Tech Trivia with Funmito Makanju-Osho, Regional Product Lead at Google

Working at one of the world’s leading tech companies while building a career in marketing may seem like two different paths, but for Funmito Makanju-Osho, they are deeply connected.

Osho is a value-driven marketing professional whose career is defined by driving digital innovation and scaling businesses through high-impact strategies. She specialises in brand building, marketing communications, and product leadership across the B2B and B2C sectors.

In just four years at Google, she has risen from Growth Manager for App Development to Senior Growth Manager and now Regional Product Lead EMEA, Google European HQ, Ireland, while continuing to identify herself as a marketing professional.

Osho holds a Certificate in Professional Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), UK. In addition to her technical skill set, she manages her interactions with emotional intelligence and confidence, pursuing both organisational and personal goals.

Outside her professional life, Osho actively volunteers and serves with Success Within International, a social enterprise focused on developing people for global relevance.

She is also building a community called The Marketing Professional (TMP), which equips marketing professionals with practical insights, conversations and mentorship. She has also authored her first book, “The Marketing Professional,” inspired by her own transition into marketing.

With a deep interest in social impact and personal development, Osho aims to improve lives and drive positive change in this fast-paced world through mentorship, networking, and teamwork.

1. Summarise your mornings in one sentence

Intentional, disciplined and highly productive.

2. Describe your gadget setup

My gadget setup is simple and efficient. I focus on devices that help me stay productive, connected, and organised. I use technology that supports my work, creativity, and everyday tasks without unnecessary clutter. 

3. What tech tools/ applications do you use the most for work?

Most AI tools: Gemini, Notebook LM, Snippet Machines, Claude & ChatGPT.

4. What do you do when you need inspiration?

When I need inspiration, I listen to music, go for long walks, start intentional reflection, and talk to God. I find that quiet moments help me reset, think creatively, gain fresh perspectives, and refocus. 

5. What mobile application can you not do without daily?

Google Maps. 

6. What tech solution do you wish someone had created?

I wish someone had created a technology that brings our ideas to life with our hands, a tool that allows us to design, build, and create physical objects instantly through simple gestures and imagination. 

7. If you have unlimited time and money, what problem would you solve?

If I had unlimited time and money, I would solve Nigeria’s deep-rooted corruption challenges by building systems that promote transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership — creating a society where integrity is rewarded and progress benefits everyone. There will be no need for the japa culture.

8. Which woman in tech inspires you the most?

Well, It’s tricky because I have never thought about it like that, but when I think about one close to home but very inspiring, I’ll say Odunayo Eweniyi, the Co-founder of PiggyVest and a champion for fintech and women’s inclusion in technology. 

9. Which profound statement inspires you the most?

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” — Eleanor Roosevelt. It reminds me that vision, courage, and persistence are powerful forces for creating meaningful change. “For with God nothing shall be impossible.” — Luke 1:37. 

This reminds me to dream boldly, trust the process, and believe that purpose-driven ideas can become a reality.

I’d love to read more about Melanie Perkins. Her journey from a simple idea to building Canva into a global technology company is incredibly inspiring, especially her focus on solving real user problems through innovation and, more recently, strongly integrating AI.
