#Hastags: #Slavery is Alive, #BankyW Unlucky Strike and Naija Shines at #MoboAwards

A lot did happen in the social media space in the course of one week. Perhaps, one can safely say that too much happened in one week already. This week on hashtags, we are going to examine a couple of these, just that you don’t forget.

Libya Slave Trade

The week began just when the world was rudely woken by horrible pictures and videos which emanated from Libya. CNN’s undercover reports showed that there are migrants from sub-Saharan Africa were being subjected to inhuman treatment in Libya. Theis got to the peak when we saw the video of human beings been auctioned at a slave market.

Many world leaders condemned the outrageous act.

Below are some more images from Libya:

After a social media outrage, the Nigerian government made the move to repatriate many stranded Nigerians, in partnership with many agencies.

Banky W’s #BAAD2017 Experience

#BAAD2017’s euphony is yet to leave the social media space. Banky W added a clip to his #BAAD2017 experience, a video showing Adesua’s nude. Trust, peeps have said a lot about the video shot in their hotel room in South Africa.

Wayne Rooney’s Hat-trick

In other news, Everton FC striker,  Wayne Rooney scored his first Premier League hat-trick since 10 September 2011, the longest time between two trebles for one player in the competition (2,272 days). Rooney scored a hat-trick first time since re-joining Everton including a remarkable goal from inside his own half, to lead Everton to victory over West Ham.

As usual, we have reactions:

This week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle got engaged. The English Prince made the most radical decision of the Kingdom in a very Long time for a number of reasons. Meghan is American, an actress, a divorcee and half African. What a choice! Congrats to the couple.

And, of course, there were reactions:

Wizkid has made Nigeria proud once again. He has become the first African to win the MOBO Awards Best International Act beating JayZ, Drake & the Likes to clinch the prize.  Davido was the best African act. What a week to be Nigerian!

See reactions below:

And, the reactions were hilarious!

I particularly liked Davido’s decision to make his speech have a noble dimension.

Thanks for reading. Do check again next week for another interesting roundup.
