Elon Musk is a pure genius. With just a few tweets and a video, Musk has just sold out 20,000 units of flamethrowers. Musk’s The Boring Company once again is using something extremely mundane to increase brand awareness.
Over the last couple of days, tech news has been following Musk’s the Boring Company as it launched its latest novelty product: flamethrowers shaped to look like guns. The company manufactured 20,000 units of these flamethrowers and made them available for purchase last Saturday for $500.

But in less than 5 days, it has sold all of them! This venture just raised $10 million in revenue for the company.
Flamethrowers Not So Innovative
But unfortunately, there’s nothing really innovative about these flamethrowers. According to Arstechnica, the flamethrowers are really just propane torch with the body that was copied from another company’s rifle.

Yet, a lot of people seem to find the worth product worth buying. Most people bought the product either due to the hype or because of their love for anything Elon Musk.
Not Everybody Loves Musk’s Flamethrowers
Although the company claims to have obeyed all regulatory laws, it is still being criticised. The British Government and some US politicians have issued warnings and criticisms about the flamethrowers. The UK Home Office warned that the product was a prohibited weapon, and is illegal for persons under the age of 18 to buy any imitations of the firearm.

In the US, a California lawmaker, Miguel Santiago, wants to introduce a law to block the sale of the product. He called the flamethrowers a terrible joke “given that we’re coming off of the worst wildfire season in history. Either way: NOT FUNNY. NOT GONNA HAPPEN”, he said.
What Is the Boring Company?
The Boring Company is, or ought to be (considering its recent products), a futuristic company. The main reason for its establishment is to engineer car-tunnel networks to reduce traffic.
Though the company is still on that path, it has added other “gigs” by the side. In January 2018, the company sold 50,000 “The Boring Company” branded hats. And now, it has sold 20,000 units of flamethrowers shaped like guns.
The company is being led by tech icon and innovator, Elon Musk. Musk is the co-founder of PayPal, a payment gateway company; he is the CEO of SpaceX, a space travel company; and is the CEO of Tesla Motors, an electric car manufacturer.
