Singplus (Sing+), Africa’s first karaoke app, recently added an update which allows its users send direct messages within the community, making it a more convenient way to connect with music.

The app which was developed by Eagle Mobi, an African mobile app developer, started out last year. It allows you to sing your favorite songs, use audio effects and adjust pitch. You can privately, or sing with your friends, or join any collaboration in the app’s community.

Now with the launch of this feature on Singplus, the sender can visit the receiver’s personal Singplus channel to tap on the message icon on the top right corner. Currently, the private message only allows Singplus users to chat with texts only. Pictures, covers, emoji and links would be made available in the future. The previous versions of the app only allowed users to comment and like.

“Our aim is to connect the Africa continent with music, and this feature is just one more step towards the vision”, said Tiger Zhang, the CEO of Singplus.

According to Zhang, the private message is a long awaited feature requested by many Singplus users.

“In fact, we’ve noticed some singles find their beloved ones on Singplus. Some of them even start international relationships because of their music stories,” added Tiger.

“We hope that more and more Africans who share the same music interest can be friends and even lovers via the community.
