Team Neon, a team of four Nigerian students made history by winning the globally-renowned Conrad Challenge Annual Innovation Summit in Florida. The announcement of this victory was made by the team sponsors, GTBank on Twitter, yesterday.

Team Neon is made up of four Junior Secondary School Two (JSS2) students from the Whitesands School Lekki. They were introduced as Mordi Menashi, Gbemi Famobiwo, Afolabi Williams and Osagumwenro Ugbo. Meet them here:
The team was crowned as ‘Smoke-Free World Power Pitch 2018’ winners in Florida, USA at the Conrad Spirit Of Innovation Challenge after pitching their solution, ‘Virtual Farm’, an agricultural and management app designed to help tobacco farmers with 5 core features:
- Money management
- Farming Management
- Livestock management
- Crops management
- Tutorial features
According to the team, this is the first time African farmers will have access to a solution that will cater for tobacco farmers with technical support as well as finance relying on the USSD version of the app.
The Conrad Challenge is an annual, multi-phased innovation and entrepreneurial competition that brings together a dynamic community of innovators and entrepreneurs driving a collaborative movement to develop extraordinary and viable solutions.
The competition has been designed to encourage high school students to develop cutting-edge solutions to real-world problems in the specific areas of Aviation, Cyber Technology, Environment and Health. Team Neon competed in the SMOKE-FREE WORLD category alongside 5 other teams.
