The hackathon is the brainchild of Lagos Innovates, an initiative under the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF). The Cashless Lagos Hackathon aims to create technology-based financial solutions to help Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) carry out daily cashless transactions.
The hackathon is scheduled to hold between August 31 and September 2nd, 2018.
Interestingly, the event is not just a government thing; it has drawn support from notable tech players like VISA West Africa, Ventures Garden Group, and Passion Incubator.
Applications are opened for innovators who can devise better ways to help MSMEs make cashless transactions. Participation is also open to teams as well as individuals.

However, to participate, applicants must propose a tech solution and must be able to develop the solution at the hackathon. To aid development, VISA will give participants access to its API to build their solutions.
Winning solutions will be selected at the end of the event and the winners announced. The winning team carts home a 2 million Naira prize money. Meanwhile, N1 million and N500,000 goes to the second and third-placed teams respectively.
Additionally, VISA will partner with the winning team to fully launch their product.
