The three co-founders of Nigerian health care startup Helium Health, have scooped a very important global recognition. Helium’s tri-founders Adegoke Olubusi, Tito Ovia, and Dimeji Sofowora were included in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

Released annually, the 30 Under 30 list recognises 600 young individuals recording spectacular achievements in several notable industries. Individuals are recognised across industries such as media, health, retail, technology, finance, science, sports and a few others.
The Helium co-founders were recognised for their efforts to digitise operations in the Nigerian health sector. Their startup, Helium Health provides a friendly data driven platform that allows health facilities store and manage patients’ data easily.
The platform is now used by 5,000 medical practitioners in West Africa to manage records of over 500,000 patients. The company is also an alumnus of the Google LaunchPad programme and the prestigious YCombinator accelerator programme.

Launched in 2014, Helium Health has an impressive funding history. It raised $50,000 from Google in November 2017. It received another $120,000 as a cohort of the YCombinator programme. And according to Forbes, Helium Health raised an impressive $2 million funding from investors like Tencent, WTI, Venturesouq & Greenhouse Capital.
The inclusion of Helium Health in the Forbes List only solidifies the impressive track record they’ve attained so far.
Other Nigerians On the Forbes 30 Under 30 List
But the Helium Health cofounders are not the only Africans in the Forbes list this year. A total of twelve Africans made the Forbes 30 Under 30 list this year, seven of them Nigerian.
Taofeek Abijako, a Nigerian born fashion designer made the arts and style list. Taofeek is famed as a creator of men’s streetwear clothing brand, Head of State+.
Kayode Ojo, an artist, also made the Forbes list in the same arts and style category.
Olaoluwa Osuntokun The cofounder of Lightning Labs has raised $2.5 million to turn bitcoin into a more viable form of payment by making smaller transactions more cost effective. Olaoluwa Osuntokun, a 25 year old Nigerian migrant made the list under the finance category. Olaoluwa is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of fintech company, Lightening Labs. The startup aims to increase use of Bitcoin payments by reducing the costs on smaller transactions. The startup has raised $2.5 million so far.
And Nigerian-Greek basketball player, Giannis Antetokounmpo rounds up the Nigerians on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list. Giannis who plays for the Milwaukee Bucks has recorded impressive strides both on and off the court. His soaring stats helped him earn a new $109 million contract with Nike and the Milwaukee Bucks.
