3 Nigerian Startups to Participate in the Co-Creation Hub PitchDrive II

10 African hardware and deep tech startups have been chosen to take part in the Co-Creation Hub PitchDrive II and three are from Nigeria. The two week tour across 5 Asian cities – Singapore, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Seoul and Tokyo, is in partnership with Google for Startups.

The Nigerian startups – GricD, Reliance HMO, and Taeillo – and 7 others were chosen from over 200 applications received from 20 African countries for this year’s edition.

The first edition was held in 2017 and had 14 African tech startups (including 6 from Nigeria) participating in a 3-week European tech hub tour that took them to London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Zurich and Paris.

But for this edition, the focus was turned to deep tech and hardware startups to help them discover and connect with suppliers or manufacturing partners in the Asian robust hardware market. And the startups chosen are providing innovative solutions and bringing about development.

GricD, is an IoT startup providing affordable cold chain devices for transportation of healthcare and agricultural produce. The startup was the winner of the 2019 #AFFDisrupt pitch competition. Reliance HMO, is an healthtech startup making health insurance accessible and affordable and Taeillo, a Nigerian furniture and design company leveraging mixed reality to improve customer experience.

The other startups include Flare and Access Afya from Kenya; AC Group from Rwanda; Enova Robotics from Tunisia; LIFI-LED from Ivory Coast; Casky from Morroco; and CHIL AI Lab from Uganda.

These startups will be provided an opportunity to showcase their world-class tech companies to the world while learning to improve their businesses too. During the tour, startups will be engage with corporate organisations like Transsion Holdings, Dentsu Ventures, Google Korea, Samsung C & T,  Yamaha, Kepple VC and more.

They will also be able to seek collaborations and investment from Asian suppliers and manufacturing partners to help grow their businesses.

The tour is set to begin on August 21, 2019, in Kigali, Rwanda, where CcHub recently launched a design lab, for a two-day bootcamp. Startups will then head to Singapore, Shenzhen (China), Hong Kong (China), Seoul (South Korea) and Tokyo (Japan) where the tour will be wrapped.
