New Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Smartphones Offer Cool New Features – But No Headphone Jack

Samsung has launched its latest smartphones. Just like it does in the second half of every year, Samsung has unveiled the new entries in its Galaxy Note series. And for the first time, it’s not just launching one device but three Notes – 10, 10+, 10+ 5G.

These new smartphones come with cool features and are the best smartphones Samsung has to offer right now, eclipsing the recently released S10 series.

As expected Note 10, 10+ came with the latest specs in the smartphone world. Powering the phones is the Snapdragon 855 chipset. This is touted to be the world’s first computer vision image signal processor and provides faster processing speed to devices. Alongside this, both devices run on the Android 9.0 pie and the Samsung One UI 1.5.

The Note 10 comes with 8GB of RAM and has 256GB of storage space with no expandable storage space and 3 rear cameras. While the Note 10+ comes with 12GB of RAM, has up to 512GB of storage space, an expandable storage space and 4 rear cameras!

Both devices come with an Infinity-O display that cuts a small circle on the screen to make room for the single front camera of 10MP.

The Note 10+ also dwarves the Note 10 in size and display as it comes with a 6.8″ screen and a Quad HD+ resolution while the Note 10 comes with a 6.3″ screen and an HD+ resolution.

The Note 10+ packs a bigger battery capacity of 4300mAh when compared to the 3500mAh of the Note 10 and both come with a fast-charging option.

Now you must have wondered about the Note 10+ 5G. Well, as the name implies the only difference between the Note 10+ and the Note10+ 5G, is the 5G. Samsung built the device to be 5G enabled. It can connect to 5G networks.

Another curious feature that needs clarification is the new S Pen with more features than before. In addition to triggering the camera shutter, changing camera modes or moving along a PowerPoint slide, the S pen now allows you to edit videos easier. It allows you splice and rearrange your timeline, scrub to a very specific frame, layer in text, add in images, create a title card and others.

The S Pen also comes with the Air Doodle feature, allowing you to draw wigs, mustaches, and other facial features on people in the camera’s frame.

But for all the new features added, Samsung killed a legacy feature – the headphone jack. According to CNet, Samsung said this was removed since around 70% of Galaxy S and Note users don’t use the 3.5mm jack but Bluetooth. It was also removed to create more space for the battery.

So if you are a fan of wired earphones, you might need to get a USB-C dongle to connect to your device or opt for Bluetooth earphones like most users.

The new devices come in 11 colours including Aura Glow, Aura White, Aura Black, Aura Red, Pink, Blue. The Note 10 comes with a price tag of $950 and the Note 10+ costs $1100 and will be available from August 23. The Note 10+ 5G will also be rolled out by August 23, but in selected stores.
