As expected, Apple is using its annual September event to make new product announcements. From the widely anticipated new iPhones and hardware to its next iOS iteration, the event brought with it the unveiling of a bunch of good stuff.
So in case you missed the live event, here’s everything that was announced.
New iPhones – 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max
What’s the September event without new iPhones? Apple, of course, launched its latest flagship smartphones, the iPhone 11 with 3 variances – 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max. The new phones are powered by Apple’s new A13 system-on-a-chip and come in a variety of colours.
The iPhone 11 comes at 6.1 inches, with dual rear cameras, an ultrawide and wide-angle camera lens as well as a front camera of 12MP (that can shoot slow-motion videos in 4k).
The Pro and Pro Max both come with 3 cameras – mimicking a fidget spinner – shape with the addition of a 12mp telephoto camera, all of which can shoot 4K. While the pro commands a 5.8 inches display, the Pro Max comes at 6.5 inches.
Apple also claims the Pro has 4 hours of battery life more than the iPhone Xs Max while the Pro Max is 5 more hours. All of the new phones come with fast charge.
The iPhone 11 will go for N253,387 ($699), the 11 Pro will be sold at N362,137 ($999) and the 11 Pro Max at N398,387 ($1099).
All will be on sale starting from September 20th.
A New iOS
Apple also announced that the new iOS 13 will be launched on September 19th. The new OS will come with updates to various apps including Maps, Photos, Messaging, Health and Reminders.
It also comes with the widely sought after Dark Mode. So, if you have an iPhone 6s or later, get ready to install the new update as your device supports iOS 13.
Other Product Announcements
Apple also announced a new Apple Watch Series 5 which will stay on until turned off by the user. It has an 18-hour battery life, comes with a built-in compass, and an international emergency calling capability.
The device will be sold at N144,637 ($399) and N180,887 ($499) for the cellular model.
Other products
Apple also launched new iPad with a humongous 10.2-inch display, displacing last year’s 9.7-inch iPad. The new iPad also supports Apple Pencil and other accessories like the Smart Keyboard and goes for N119,262 ($329).
Its new gaming service, Arcade was also launched and is expected to let users play over 100 games on the various Apple devices at N1,812 ($4.99) per month. Apple also launched its much anticipated Netflix rival, Apple TV+, an on-demand video service.
The service is expected to come with original programming and like Arcade, it will cost N1,812 ($4.99) per month.
