OPay has introduced USSD code *955#

The announcement was made on OPay’s official Twitter page. The company said that the code will enable users to buy airtime, send money (OPay – OPay), check balance, and perform withdrawals.

The startup added that the *995# USSD code presented a simple and smart way to bank anywhere and anytime.

The introduction of the USSD service comes after OPay recently raised a $120 million Series B funding on the heels of a $50 million funding raised in July.

OPay’s popularity across Nigeria is growing, especially in the states where they have launched their ride-hailing services.  The super app’s model of providing discounted and affordable options of banking has drawn a major crowd of low and middle-class Nigerians unto their platform.

OPay’s designated USSD code allows users to perform transactions without data

To access the OPay USSD code, *955#, you must have created an OPay account . The service allows you to carry out financial transactions on the mobile number connected to your OPay account. These include sending money to another OPay account, buying airtime for yourself or any other person, performing withdrawals and checking your account balance by entering designated USSD codes.

However, the USSD code isn’t available for Globacom subscribers yet, it would seem, as the flyer advertising the service shows Airtel, 9mobile and MTN logo but no the Globacom logo.
