Following the increasing number of people infected with Covid-19, PlentyWaka, a Lagos-based bus-hailing platform, has suspended its operations in the state.
The suspension, according to the startup is part of its efforts to protect its riders and prevent the potential spread of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the state. It added that the suspension of operation will start from today, 23rd of March 2020.
Plentywaka is the first ride-hailing platform in Nigeria to suspend operation, following the breakout of the Covid-19 in the country
The startup apologized for the inconvenience the short notice of the suspension will create. It, however, added that it looks forward to resuming operations as the circumstance surrounding the virus improves.
This suspension comes just after the start-up announced that it has hit a major milestone by completing its 100,000th ride in just 6 months of operation.

The startup provides a convenient means for Lagosians to commute daily at affordable rates with an assurance of safety, comfort, class and convenience.

With this suspension, Plentywaka’s about 30,000 unique registered riders will have to find alternative sources of transportation. that is, assuming many of them aren’t working remotely already.
