Nigerian VC firm, Ventures Platform has further widened its already impressive investment portfolio. The company has just announced new investments in 3 startups – Healthtech startup, Tambua Health, SMB Digital bank, Brass and software startup, FunnelJoy.
This brings the platform’s current investment portfolio to 24 startups according to its website.
The investment in these 3 startups by Ventures platform appears to be an interesting move with the interesting solutions they offer.
Tambua Health is a Kenyan health tech startup that designed a device called the T-Sense which uses sound from fixed microphone transducers to take pictures of the lungs. This is very vital in the early detection of lung-related diseases which results in one-in-six (16.7%) deaths globally.
Coupled with its software called the T-Lab, lung sound signals are converted from analogue to digital. The T-Lab also provides a platform for the analysis of lung sounds, sharing of lung sounds and advanced modules for lung imaging and lung function testing.
This revolutionizes the space and makes medical imaging cheaper and more accessible to healthcare facilities across the continent. This solution also replaces the radiation process of an X-ray with sound, making it safe for everyone to use including pregnant women and children.
Tambua Health was one of the startups that pitched at Y Combinator’s Winter Demo Day in March this year. It was also part of the third cohort of the Google Launchpad Africa accelerator last year.
The second startup, Brass is a fully digital bank aimed at SMEs in Nigeria. Yet to launch, the startup wants to help SMEs open and operate accounts with ease. It also aims to provide a better banking experience and tools to help them run more efficiently and increase revenue.
This will see them fill in the gap left by traditional banks in Nigeria in their offerings for Small and Medium-scale Entreprises (SMEs).
FunnelJoy is another startup plying an interesting route. Founded by Samuel Okwuada in 2017, the platform is a product of Kessington Global Synergy (Kessintech).
A web page and sales funnel builder, the startup helps digital entrepreneurs and those who want to take their businesses online to create landing pages and sales/membership funnels.
With FunnelJoy, businesses can do all that with just drags and clicks and with no need for coding knowledge. With this platform, businesses are able to engage and sell products online.
The platform also seems to be gaining global traction as about 90% of its customers come from the American and European markets with a high retention rate. Recently, the startup received funding from an early-stage venture firm, Ingressive Capital.
