The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 176 new coronavirus cases to bring the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 5,621.

Lagos continues to lead on the daily log with 95 new cases to bring the total number of cases in the state to 2,373. This means 42.2% of cases in the country are in Lagos.

Abuja is third on the daily log with 11 new cases. This gives the FCT a total of 397 cases and solidifies its position in third place on the national log. Kano is conspicuously missing on the daily update as the state didn’t record a new case hours after governor Ganduje warned that cases would soar in the state after the setting up of several new testing centres.

By regional representation, of the 14 states documented in the latest update, the Northcentral has the most representation with 4 states (FCT, Niger, Nasarawa and Benue). The Northwest is the next with 3 states (Jigawa, Kaduna and Zamfara).

The Southwest (Lagos and Oyo), the Northeast (Borno, Bauchi) and the Southsouth (Edo and Rivers) were represented by 2 states appease. The Southeast was represented by just 1 state (Anambra).

34 states plus the FCT have recorded coronavirus cases. Kogi and Cross River remain the only two states without a single case.

Testing, recoveries, deaths and active cases

So far, Nigeria has carried out a total of 32,942 tests.

Nigeria got a new daily recovery record for the second time in two days as NCDC reports 152 new recoveries. This trumps the previous highest of 140 recorded the day before and brings the total number of recoveries in the country to 1,472.
