21st Century Technologies Launches Konet- A Customisable Communication Tool for Organisations

21st Centuries Technology has launched Konet, a software that provides premium communication features that companies need for their daily operation and growth.

The need for virtual workspaces has been increased because of the effects of COVID-19 on businesses. Most businesses and organizations in Nigeria use Slack, Microsoft Teams and others as a way to foster company relations.

Konet was developed after the realization that businesses in Nigeria have different needs which require that certain features and elements of communication platforms be tailored to solve the local needs.

What businesses can do with Konet

Businesses can create a workspace on Konet and add team members to the space. The app is free to use for individuals and organizations till October, after which users will be required to pay to continue using it.

Konet has the conference call functionality that is available on apps like Zoom, and Google Meet. And like Slack, free versions with limited features will be available with the option to upgrade at a fee of N1,000 for additional features.

Members of the company’s channel as well as people not on it can be admitted into a virtual conference by creating a room within the channel. The link to the room can be shared with other people or they can be added via email addresses if they are not on the virtual channel.

I was admitted into the conference room created by the Konet team and took a look around the platform to see how it works. Besides the chat functionalities provided, Konet has a section on the dashboard that shows the most recently viewed documents and chats by the users. This makes it easier to pick up from wherever the individual left off and to keep track of what is important.

Voice and video calls can be made on the platform, however, the current update does not have the feature that gives hosts and admins the power to mute or remove guests if they start causing disruptions during conferences.

This is a deterrent because it could drastically reduce the quality and effectiveness of conferences if people get rowdy. However, CEO of 21ST Technologies, Wale Ajisebutu said advanced host control features will be rolled out with new updates in the coming weeks.

Making the channel reflect the colours, members, and ideals of a company is also possible with Konet. It provides colour schemes from which companies can select. The platform also offers diverse languages to choose from for its users.

While Konet has a mix of functionalities that have been beta-tested by SMEs and companies in the country including Stanbic IBTC, the pricing and ability to customize the platform to each company’s taste are its strongest suit.
