The personal assistant to the late CEO of Gokada, Fahim Saleh who was found gruesomely murdered in his Manhattan apartment this week has been arrested a few hours ago by the New York Police Department.
According to the New York Times, two officials briefed on the matter indicated that Tyrese Devon Haspil, 21 will be charged in a criminal complaint with second-degree murder and other crimes.
According to the report, detectives believe that the motive for the killing stemmed from Mr Saleh’s discovery that the assistant had stolen tens of thousands of dollars from him. Although Fahim had not reported the staff and he had set up what amounted to a repayment plan for him to return the money.
The police also concluded that Fahim was actually killed on Monday (the day before his body was found by the sister). The killer returned to his apartment the next day to dismember the body and clean up the crime scene. Detectives believe he was interrupted when Mr Saleh’s sister buzzed from the building’s lobby
He was said to have used his the deceased’s credit card to pay for a car to a Home Depot, on West 23rd Street in Manhattan as well as to buy cleaning supplies to sanitize the crime scene.
Describing the incident, the police said that he was the man seen in the CCTV clips dressed in a black three-piece suit, wearing a black mask and carrying a duffel bag. He was said to have followed Fahim off an elevator into his apartment.
He was alleged to have used a Taser to immobilize his boss, then stabbed him to death.
“Security video taken from inside the elevator shows the killer later using a battery-operated portable vacuum cleaner in an apparent effort to remove any traces of his presence, the official said.”
The City’s medical examiner announced on yesterday that Fahim had died from multiple stab wounds to his neck and torso.
