Hi guys, welcome to the end of another week. The social media world was hit with saddening news this week especially the gruesome death of Gokada CEO, Fahim Saleh and another of Nigeria’s first female fighter pilot, Tolulope Arotile.
The news of the demise of these two brilliant young minds came simultaneously in the morning of Wednesday and shocked the entire social media space.
Fahim’s dismembered remains were discovered in his condominium by his sister who had gone to check in on him after she didn’t hear from him for about a day. Recent police reports suggest that a money row with his assistant is the cause of the brutal murder.
Tolulope Arotile had died from head injuries sustained from a road traffic accident. Upon news of both deaths, social media users went online to pay tribute.
Some online ‘private investigators’ had also gone as far as suggesting theories surrounding the death of Fahim.
Our thoughts are with their friends and families.
“Double your Bitcoin, Double your Bitcoin,” says Elon Musk, Obama, Bill Gates and Several Others
On Wednesday, the Twitter accounts of several major companies and prominent individuals were compromised. Accounts belonging to President Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Kanye West, Michael Bloomberg, Apple, and even Twitter Support were hacked.
This hack is one of the most widespread the platform has ever seen in its 14 years of operation. Unlike other hacks where information is being leaked, this hack was all in a bid to promote a bitcoin scam.
The trick for the scam was simple – promise individuals a double of the bitcoin sent to a certain wallet, and in about 2 hours the creators of the hack had gotten about 120,000 easy dollars.
Social media as expected went into a frenzy upon discovering it was a hack.
Twitter has also said it’s investigating to ascertain the exact cause of the hack as well as those responsible.
Pastor Adeboye’s Happy Birthday Message
This week, Pastor Adebooye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) got on Twitter trends again. This time, it was over his birthday message to his wife.
In the message, he revealed that his wife still does her domestic chores at home and respects him as the “head” of the family. The message didn’t go down well with quite a number of Twiter users as they accused the senior clergy of making his wife’s happy day ‘about himself as the head’.
Some others didn’t find a fault in the message and came to defend it.
Whichever it is, belated happy birthday to Mrs Adeboye.
#WhatsAppDown, Twitter to the Rescue
So for a brief moment on Tuesday night, the popular social platform WhatsApp was down.
Although not the first time, many users (including myself) didn’t know what was up until they got on Twitter. And that is because our WhatsApp was working perfectly. But if anybody can tell you something you didn’t know was happening to you, it has to be Twitter.
And the bants flew out.
However, the issue was resolved after a short while.
