Hi guys, welcome to the end of the week. There has been a whole lot of drama especially from the legislative and executive arms of the Nigerian government.
On Monday, while being probed by the National Assembly for financial misappropriation, Prof Pondei, Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), appeared to have fainted.
Just as Nigerians were still feasting on the fainting MD, the Niger Delta minister, Godswill Akpabio took up the stage and had his own share of the whole comedy series. While being probed over the allegations of corruption in the NDDC, the minister had claimed that several of the contracts from the NDDC were given to lawmakers – including the chairman of the panel, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
But before he could go any further, he was forced to keep quiet following incessant shout of “it’s okay” from Tunji-Ojo.
As Nigerians were still finding answers to what was ‘okay’ and it looked like no new episode of the NASS Comedy show was being released, another blockbuster came out. The seniority tussle between Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment aka the big boy from Victoria Island and James Faleke, a member of the house of representatives aka the small boy from Mushin.
Nigerians have since gone online to troll the legislative arm of the government for the drama series.
While no new episode seems to have surfaced, one thing we know is that “it’s not okay“…
BBNaija Lockdown
So on Sunday the new BBNaija show started. Tagged the BBNaija Lockdown, the new season featured 20 housemates who will live together for the next 65 days.
As usual with the show, fans have taken online to ‘stan’ various housemates. And a couple of names have trended heavily over the last few days, Laycon the musician, Ozo, KiddWaya, Dorothy, Nengi (the first head of house) and Erica.
For the next couple of weeks, we have got our popcorns and icecream ready for lots of gists, fights and tears.
Liverpool – Champions of England
So this week, Liverpool Football Club was crowned the winner of the English Premier League at their Anfield stadium after beating Chelsea 5 – 3.
The triumph is their first in England’s top-flight football since 1990 – a whopping 30 years ago. The club as well as their fans stormed online to celebrate the win.
Fun Fact: Over 80% of the club’s players were not born the last time it won the league.
Congrats to The Reds.
STOP FALSE RAPE ALLEGATIONS!!
…yes, stop it!
On Monday, news hit social media about the death of Izu, a young man who was falsely accused of rape. He was added to a list of people who have committed rape and after several attempts at trying to clear his name, he committed suicide.
Just as the social media rose up to slam rapists and sexual assaulters, many also took online to condemn false rape allegations and call for a lawful stop to it.
