Tizeti to Improve Internet Connectivity with New Infrastructure Upgrade to 100Gbps Capacity

Internet service provider, Tizeti has announced the successful upgrade of its core network infrastructure capacity to 100Gbps.

According to the company, the upgrade will provide additional capacity to support its services and ensure that its customers continue to enjoy high-quality and reliable internet services.

The completed project involved upgrading Tizeti’s existing Gigabit fibre connection of its Lagos Points of Presence (POPs) to 10Gbps and relocating from its owned and operated data centre to a world-class Tier III data centre.

Speaking about the development, Tizeti’s Chief Executive Officer, Kendall Ananyi, said that the upgrade will increase the reliability of its service by providing multiple routes for network transit to the internet.

“Our consistent investment in our core infrastructure shows our dedication to meeting the global challenges of increased data use driven by teleworking, distance learning, remote gaming, video chat, and streaming.”

This infrastructure upgrade comes after Kendall Ananyi was recently reinstated as CEO after a sexual harassment allegation against him was dismissed.

Improving internet service

Tizeti has often received bashing on the quality of its internet services. In February last year, several twitter users shared harrowing experiences using its service.

Similarly, another Tizeti user, Rihanat Matthew wrote an opinion piece sharing a bad experience using internet services.

However, with the new upgrade, the company is working to boost the quality of internet services. Ananyi confirmed the 100Gbps upgrade meets wider connectivity requirements such as low latency as a result of hosting its 4G LTE core servers within its network. This guarantees faster, more reliable connectivity, as well as reduced operational costs.

Providing Connectivity in Africa

Tizeti serves millions of Africans with internet access through its solar-powered towers. The ISP currently provides unlimited high-speed broadband internet covering Lagos, Ogun, and Rivers state.

Dubbed the “Comcast for Africa”, Tizeti has installed over 25,000 public Wifi hotspots within Nigeria and has about 1.5 million users. The company has since expanded its services to Ghana with new consumer-facing brand GhanaWifi.com and its Voice service WifiCall.ng.

Tizeti Chief Operations Officer, Ifeanyi Okonkwo, expressed the company’s dedication to providing unlimited internet to its customers.

“Tizeti has consistently delivered on its mission to provide unlimited internet to our customers and this upgrade will allow our customers to enjoy better browsing experience during this time of increased data consumption. We are proud to announce that our customers can do more on our network, from streaming their favourite movies and series to working and staying connected from home.”

With remote working driving the demand for unlimited internet data consumption, Tizeti will be looking to leverage its increased fibre capacity to provide affordable and unlimited wi-fi internet service to millions of Nigerians.
