All You Need to Know About the Free CBT Prep Kit for WAEC Candidates by Chronicles Software

Edtech company, Chronicles Software Development Company, has partnered with the Lagos state government to make a CBT preparation kit available to students currently preparing for JSS3 and SS3 exit examinations.

The kit which is called SuccessBox, gives the students access to more than 15 sets of questions and answers, instant result feedback and performance analytics. Each set of question is from the junior or senior WAEC examination that took place in past years.

To cover for when the students do not have access to the internet, the kit can also be used offline once it has been downloaded and activated online.

This development is coming ahead of the August 17 commencement of WAEC examinations around the country. With the free plan, students will not be required to pay the access fee of N1,500 before using the practice kit. It can be used free for 12 months.

How to obtain and use the kit

To obtain the CBT prep kit, one has to first download the app. To do that one has to follow this link and fill out a form. Details required include student’s name, gender, phone number, email and class in the form provided. Parents and guardians will also be required to provide their own details which include a phone number, email, state of residence and local government area.

Lagos and Chronicles Software Launch Free CBT Prep Kit for WAEC Candidates

There are versions of the app available for both PC and smartphones. The form will also require that you specify the type of device the app will be deployed to.

I registered as an SS3 student and selected computer as my device. After submitting the form, my download details were presented to me on the website. Here is a screenshot of it below.

Because I registered as an SS3 student, I am allowed to download both the JAMB preparation kit and the senior WAEC kit. If you register as a JSS3 student, you will be allowed to download the BECE test kit on whichever device you choose.

If you make the mistake of selecting the wrong class when registering and you submit it like that, you will need to provide a new email different from the one you used before when registering again.

Once you have downloaded the app, you can select exams from past years, solve them and study the answers in preparation for your own exam.

Chronicles Software edtech solutions

Chronicles software began developing its edtech products for students before the WAEC examinations were conducted online. The startup was launched in 2007 by Oluwatosin Koyejo, Adekunbi Ogunsola and Opeyemi Ogunlade. It has since launched three edtech products for students in the country.

SuccessBox is the startup’s second product. It is a digital learning device for students, preloaded with academic content and games in line with junior and senior secondary school curriculum in the country.

More people are moving towards virtual learning and there is an increasing need for platforms that can serve that purpose. ULearn, Chronicles third product provides a way to set up an online school, onboard students and monitor their progress through analytics generated from user data.

About 500,000 students have used the various apps since inception, according to Koyejo.

As students prepare for the examinations, the CBT kit with questions, answers and explanations is expected to make preparation faster, more fun and effective for the students.
