Despite the controversial build-up to the Edo Governorship elections, PDP’s Godwin Obaseki emerged winner without post-election violence. He won against APC’s Osagie Ize-Iyamu who had received the backing of party godfathers Bola Tinubu and Adams Oshiomhole.
The election result brought about reactions from many Nigerians who went online to remind us that ‘Edo nor be Lagos’.
Some people saw Obaseki’s victory in Edo state as a win for democracy and a sign that godfatherism no longer guarantees certain victory at elections. Others mocked APC for losing.
Patriarchy FC Joins Nigeria Twitter League
No, this is not about football. Nigeria twitter is apparently like a ‘league’ hosting a variety of ‘clubs’. For instance there is the well-known Wizkid FC as well as the Feminist Coven FC and others.
Patriarchy FC is the latest to join in. The clique is mostly made up of men who are anti-feminists.
Feminists, equal rights activists and neutrals however, expressed their disgust at the Patriarchy FC movement.

Wizkid released the video of his hit single, ‘Smile’ this week and people have taken to social media to share their opinions about the video.
Obafemi Martins Joins Wuhan FC
PUNCH reported this week that 35-year old former Super Eagles forward, Obafemi Martins, has joined Chinese Super League side, Wuhan FC on a one-year deal.
While several Nigerians find it queer that Martins would play at the epicenter of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the world, others wonder how old the former Super Eagle really is as he seems to have been playing forever.
Scores Die in yet Another Lagos Explosion
Months after the NNPC gas pipeline explosion in Abule Ado area of Lagos, another fatal explosion happened two days ago in Iju Ishaga. The fire incident left at least 23 people dead.
Officials said the explosion was caused by a petrol tanker which had caught fire.
#BBNaija: Neo Washes Vee’s Panties
BBNaija served up another controversial talking point this week as one of the last five contestants, Neo was seen washing the pant of his ‘bae’ Vee.
While some people felt it was not a big deal, many berated Neo for doing such especially on live TV.
