From Hiring To Retiring, Seamless HR Helps Big And Small Businesses Manage Personnel

SeamlessHR was founded by Emmanuel Okeleji and Deji Lana in 2018. The startup began by collating job openings from different job sites and then matching job seekers to employers through its recruitment management system.

SeamlessHR was known as Insidify when it first started. Presently, it has morphed its service into a cloud-based human resource management software that helps companies to streamline HR tasks and achieve a higher level of efficiency.

A significant number of businesses die in their early stages in Nigeria and across the world yearly. One of the most common factors responsible for the death of these companies is poor or non-existent structures for managing Human Resources.

Between 2010 and 2018, 61% of startups in Nigeria that were founded in or after 2010 shut down, according to a report by WeeTracker. Other studies have shown that deficiencies in managing the human resource as well as other resources are partly responsible for the high mortality rate of businesses in the country and anywhere else.

The traditional approach is setting up an effective HR unit to oversee activities relating to the personnel of the enterprise. However, for most startups and companies, having a tech-enabled solution that eliminates the need for more people in the HR unit saves cost and time. This also opens up more possibilities for the company and ensures that activities relating to the staff are catered to at the right time.

SeamlessHR provides enterprise software that handles HR processes efficiently from hiring to the point where the staff exits the company.

What the startup does

SeamlessHR renders its HR management software as a service. With this tool, businesses can onboard employees, track their performance using attendance and other metrics, process leave requests and automate the payroll among other things.

There are two subscription levels that businesses can choose from. The first is the Core HR while the other is the Premium HR. The first option allows the business to manage information relating to its human resources, handle leave requests and payroll as well as get report and analytics relating to the performance of the HR. If your business uses this option, you can also allow the staff to self-service themselves by giving varying access levels to different people.

The premium option allows you to do everything in the Core subscription with some extras. You can set up disciplinary structures for staff using the disciplinary management feature, as well as exit and severance management. Advanced reports and analytics are provided for businesses with this subscription as well as the structure to monitor attendance and time.

Businesses are also provided with mobile apps to make the process smoother for both plans.

Depending on what stage your business is, you can go for either of the two options. Early startups with little staff and lesser need for exit and severance structures can opt for the Core plan.

Startups that use accounting software have the option of integrating the HR software to the accounting solution that they use. According to SeamlessHR, its software integrates smoothly with most accounting software, but in the case of a glitch, you can reach out to the company.

Payment for the software service is on a monthly basis and is charged per staff. The Core plan costs N1,000 per staff per month while the Premium plan costs N2,000 per staff per month. This means that the amount you will pay will increase based on the number of staff that you have.

The monthly subscription makes it easy to stop using the service if the need arises. Other services such as recruitment management and payroll management can be purchased as add-ons to the Premium plans or as standalone services.

The recruitment management service is the service the company started with and helps companies find the right people for job positions. The service costs N100,000 monthly.

The startup has raised two funding rounds, with the last one disclosed early in November. The first funding was raised from Ventures Platform, Tofino Capital, and some Nigerian angel investors in 2019, according to Disrupt Africa. The amount raised was undisclosed but Weetracker reported that Tofino Capital invested $150,000 in the startup.

The second round was raised from US-based Lateral Capital, Lagos-based Consonance Investment Managers, Ingressive Capital and Kenyan-based Enza Capital. The amount was also not disclosed, however, a Techpoint publication referred to it as a seven-figure round.

According to co-founder, Okeleji, the latest funding will be used to scale SeamlessHR’s services across the African continent. He said, “We have what we can call the first-mover advantage in the enterprise HR cloud SaaS space in Africa. This round of funding will help us consolidate on this advantage and scale operations quickly across the continent.”

Alternatives to SeamlessHR

There are alternatives that can be used in place of SeamlessHR’s software. They include SAP, Paycor, Sage and Oracle PeopleSoft. A major difference is that SeamlessHR focuses only on HR and the services developed all enhance that focus.

In summary

Tech is an enabler which can optimize processes in different aspects of the business. If your business can afford it, getting a human resource management software for your team will have huge impact.
