Twitter has suspended the official account of Nigeria’s telecom regulator, NCC (Nigerian Communications Commission) on its social platform.
According to Technext investigation, the NCC account was suspended on Monday, November 23 for allegedly breaking Twitter rules. However, the actual rule that was broken is still unknown at the time of writing.
With the suspension, the NCC will be unable to access its account or perform any activity on the platform until it is lifted.

NCC denies any wrongdoing
While confirming the suspension of the NCC Twitter account, the director of public affairs, Ike Adinde denied any wrongdoing on the part of the agency.
He explained that the cause of the suspension was a glitch from Twitter’s two-factor authentication (2FA) system.
“We have been aware of issues with our Twitter account, apparently emanating from technical glitches with the company’s (Twitter’s) authentication system,”

However, it is relevant to note that Twitter usually suspends accounts to ensure a safe environment for users based on violations of its rules and not for violating 2FA system.
Other reasons account can be suspended may be to protect other users from cyber-crime, violence, terrorism/violent extremism, abuse/harassment, sexual exploitation among others.
It is pertinent to recall that several Twitter accounts were attacked this year inclding the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).

In conclusion
Although the actual reason for the suspension is unknown the account, the NCC and Twitter should be able to reach an understanding soon so the suspension on the account can be lifted.
