Pinterest Begins Testing of Online Event Feature for Masterclass and Business Webinar

Pinterest is entering into the online event business as it has begun testing a new online event feature for creators and small business. Observations from recent tests show that the new feature will allow users to sign-up for Zoom classes through the platform.

It will also allow creators to use Pinterest’s class boards to organize class materials, notes and connect with attendees through a group chat option.

The company, in a statement, confirmed that it was testing an online event feature but didn’t reveal a launch date. However, it said it’s still in development so the feature may not launch until next year.

An online event feature for Master class and Business Webinar

Pinterest and its many boards offer great potential to small businesses. From Marketing to the research ideas and evaluation of competition, businesses have benefited immensely from the features on the platform.

With the proposed introduction of the online event feature, the company is planning to make its platform more useful and important to the business.

Currently, the new feature is visible through “demo” profiles like “@pinsmeditation” or “@pinzoom123,”. The profiles view is listed as Class Communities. However, the communities are empty because the feature hasn’t been released.

What to expect

Once launched, communities would include dedicated sections where creators will be able to organize their class materials like lists notes, photos and more.

The communities can also be used to offer class overview and description, connect users to a related shop, group chat feature and more.

They will also be able to use enhanced Pinterest boards to respond to questions from attendees, share photos from the class and otherwise interact with the participants.

To join a class, you can click a “book” button to sign up. Confirmation along with the meeting details will be sent to your email. There are other buttons you can copy the link to join the class or download the Zoom App.

In summary,

With remote work being the new norm for businesses, its not surprising that Pinterest would expand into the online events.

The platform has become a popular tool for organising resource and will become an even more valuable social media platform with businesses being able to connect with its over 442 million active monthly users through online events.
