Hi guys, trust you had a great weekend. Events have already kick-started for the year across the African and global tech scenes. However, with the number of COVID-19 infections still increasing, most events remain virtual.
We have curated a list of some major virtual events for this week. They come up between January 11 – 16, 2021.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Unpacked
This week, Samsung will be hosting its first Unpacked event of 2021. Themed “Welcome to the Everyday Epic”, the virtual event is expected to unveil the new Galaxy S21 lineup – the 6.2-inch S21, the 6.7-inch S21 Plus and the 6.8-inch S21 Ultra.
Along with the Galaxy S21 lineup, the company is expected to unveil new Galaxy Buds Pro earbuds and physical Tile-style smart trackers, possibly called Galaxy Smart Tags, to help people keep track of their possessions using BlueTooth.
Date: Thursday, January 14, 2021
Time: 4:00 PM
You can watch the event on Samsung’s YouTube page or its homepage.
The CES 2021 will be starting today but due to the ongoing pandemic, the event will take place entirely on our computer screens. This is the first-ever completely remote staging of the consumer tech industry’s tentpole event.
With the event going virtual, the CES 2021 has been scaled down. According to the Consumer Technology Association, around 1,800 exhibitors will be a part of this year’s show. This is fewer than 4,400 exhibitors who showcased their technology in 2020.
Notably, some big tech companies like Amazon, Google and Facebook are opting out of CES this year.
Date: Monday, January 11 – Thursday, January 14, 2021
Time: 1:00 PM
