Pan-African online talent marketplace, CodeLn, has launched an online platform that helps businesses and organisations to manage their remote contractors. Called ‘Remote CodeLn‘, the platform enables organisations to hire suitably qualified freelancers to take on tech jobs and track their product development tasks throughout the product development process.
Demand for freelancers has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic, especially with the massive retrenchment of staff and the consequent need for organisations to outsource certain aspects of their operations. This is even more pronounced in the tech space where tech organisations went fully remote and where developers are springing up in their numbers.
Remote CodeLn is an innovative platform that helps companies/individuals to post their tech project, receive bids from freelancers, pick from verified bidders, draft product development contract, assign/manage product development tasks, and pay freelancers in tranches based on milestones completed.
Speaking on the new platform, CodeLn Cofounder and CEO, Elohor Thomas noted that several companies are beginning to adopt the uncommon remote workforce model but this comes with peculiar challenges. Remote CodeLn was, therefore, borne out of the need to help organisations that are struggling to adapt to the new remote recruiting occasioned by the new normal.
“We saw the need to enlighten companies on how to manage programmers working remotely as it was not the norm in Africa before COVID-19 hit.Elohor Thomas
“But we soon realised the additional need for a tool to help them manage this process seamlessly that is why we built Remote CodeLn. This platform ensures a smooth process for both the company and the programmer,” she added.
How Remote CodeLn Works
The new platform aimed at helping organisations remotely recruit developers and programmers works in a pretty straightforward manner. Both the company and the freelance programmer set tasks and timelines for each milestone. The details of these tasks and timelines are documented in a contract.
Remote CodeLn simply stands in as an intermediary between both parties and guarantees that milestones are completed before payment is done. The platform has an escrow facility where payments are held until both parties confirm that the tasks have been completed.
The talent recruitment space in Nigeria is already replete with major players like Wejapa, Andela, TalentQL and a host of several others. But CodeLn believes it has a unique platform that gives it a very good edge in the space.
It is an end-to-end tech recruitment platform whose approach to recruiting software developers is by automating the entire process thereby cutting down technical recruitment time by 80%.
“We understand that the process of recruiting software developers is a hectic and time-consuming process and if not properly conducted, the Company risks having a bad hire.CodeLn
“Finding and identifying skilled talents is quite a process and employing a wrong fit slows down technical productivity rate. We thereby make recruiting Software Developers a fast and easy process for companies,” the talent recruiter said.
CodeLn is an automated tech recruitment platform that helps companies looking to hire people in the software engineering field. Through the web-based, artificial intelligence platform, a recruiter can post a job specification and immediately get matched with suitable candidates via CodeLn’s recommendation system.
The recruiter could also test the coding skills of the candidate and present them with an offer letter – all through one platform.
CodeLn CEO, Elohor Thomas is one of 6 Nigerians nominated for the £25,000 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation. Launched by the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2014, the Africa Prize recognises ambitious African innovators developing scalable engineering solutions to local challenges.
