Social Media Roundup: #Shedibalabala Challenge Goes Viral, Elon Musk's Bitcoin U-turn Crashes Crypto Prices and Others

Hi guys, trust you had a great week. While you’re going about your weekend activities, take a moment to sit back and relax as we bring you the many trends that have been making the rounds across social media.

Elon Musk and Tesla crash crypto prices

On Wednesday, Elon Musk’s Tesla suspended bitcoin payments for its electric cars over global warming and climate change concerns.

This immediately crashed prices in the crypto market as Bitcoin price plunged by 16%. Ethereum also fell by 10% and Dogecoin went down by 15%.

Several investors were forced to cut their losses.

Not everyone agreed that Tesla’s move was due to concerns over carbon emissions from coal-powered Bitcoin mining.

Others didn’t think Elon Musk was to blame.

Trust Nigerians to bring in some comic relief.

At 23..

During the week, Nigerians on Twitter began to recount their life achievements and experiences at age 23. People shared varying memories of what they had done as regards education, business, finance and/or relationships at that age and stage in their lives.

Some people felt the trend wasn’t aimed at putting anyone under pressure while others thought it shouldn’t have been started in the first place.

Police Parade Suspected Killer of Ini Umoren

The Akwa Ibom Police Command yesterday paraded Uduak Akpan, the prime suspect in the rape-murder case of the late Iniubong Umoren who was just laid to rest. According to Akpan, he murdered Ini in self-defence after she hit him with a stabiliser during their meet-up.

The suspect’s so-called confession sounded like balderdash and Nigerians were expectedly irate at everything about the police parade including some of the questions asked by journalists.
