FG bans Twitter in Nigeria
The Buhari-led administration in Nigeria has restricted internet access to Twitter in the country. This comes after Twitter deleted President Buhari’s “civil war” tweet for violating its community rules. It is the first time a tweet from the president has been deleted. Facebook has also reportedly removed the same post.

Internet service providers including MTN and Airtel have complied with the Twitter ban directive. After berating authorities over its deliberate actions to gag social media, Nigerians have resorted to using VPNs to access Twitter.
United African Republic?
A proposal to change the name of the country from Nigeria to United African Republic took social media by storm during the week.
Several Nigerians began to play around the idea, and how it could affect politics, entertainment and the economy.
Sowore and NANS plan June 12 protests
Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) have called for nationwide protests on June 12, Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
The protests are aimed at demanding improved national security, better education and accountability from the Buhari-led government. Some Nigerians are in support but others are worried about campaigners’ security due to last year’s Lekki massacre over #EndSARS protests.
