Nigerian fintech company, Flutterwave, has been named a title sponsor of this year’s Africa Fintech Summit holding in Cairo Egypt. This means the fintech giant would have its name included as part of the event’s title.
This sponsorship is the latest in a series of event partnerships embarked on by the payment company. Recall that in May, Flutterwave was named as one of the major sponsors of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) alongside Rwand Air, Nike, Air Jordan, Pepsi and several other multinationals.
Shortly after that, the Time Magazine most influential company announced it was partnering with the Nigerian male basketball team, D’Tigres as they competed at the Tokyo Olympics. At the time, the company said it was always looking for new ways to foster unity in Africa.

Flutterwave looks to be sticking to that committment with its title sponsorship of the Africa Fintech Summit. Flutterwave’s success is largely due to its pan-African borderless payment strategy which creates a seamless payment experience for customers worldwide.
The company which has since attained unicorn status after a $170 million Series C funding in March, has infrastructure to reach over 33 African countries. Flutterwave says it has processed over 140m transactions worth over $9 billion and serves more than 300,000 businesses across the world.
Speaking on this latest sponsorship, Flutterwave Founder and CEO Olugbenga Agboola, said the unicorn is thrilled to be a title sponsor of the event because they believe the AFTS network is crucial to developing and shaping the fintech industry in Africa.

We’re thrilled to be a title sponsor at this year’s AFTS event. By bringing together leading stakeholders from across the continent and worldwide, we’re able to collaboratively share ideas, innovations and insights that will drive the change needed to improve the fintech ecosystem in Africa.
