This week, the Developmental Bank of Nigeria, DBN, will be hosting its DBN TECHPRENEUR SUMMIT 2021 event in Lagos with the theme “Starting Local, Scaling Global”. 

This event will be DBN’s first-ever Techpreneur Summit. Its goal is to better understand the challenges that tech businesses face and provide solutions to those problems. More importantly, it aims to use this initiative to isolate MSME’s into relevant sector-based clusters.

The meetup will feature speakers including some key names like Iyin Aboyeji, Founder of Future Africa; Judith Okonkwo, Founder of imsi 3D; Temi Giwa-Tunbosun, Founder of Live Bank; and Tomiwa Aladekomo, CEO of Big Cabal, to mention a few. 

The event is free to all and welcomes Technopreneurs and managers of tech businesses, Deposit Money Banks, Other Development Finance Institutions, Investors, Business Consultants, Regulators, and the General Public.

This week, LASU CBT 18 and blockchain Club, LASU will host their first Tech Saturday 2.0. The event will focus on blockchain and how to get started in the community.

The event will include discussions about blockchain technology and how it has facilitated decentralization in record keeping. it will also feature the launch of the LASU Blockchain Club.

The event also promises to teach attendees industry-standard techniques in blockchain. It will feature notable speakers like Chuta Chimezie, Founder of the Blockchain Nigeria user group; Holly Lehman, product marketing manager, teams at Microsoft; and Samuel Erskine, Head of customer experience at Deloitte, amongst many others. 

The event is expected to be free to all.

Adobe is hosting its annual creative conference, Adobe MAX, this week and as usual, the event will give participants a sneak peek at the company’s upcoming creative tools and software. 

Adobe MAX is an annual festival of creativity hosted by the world’s biggest software company. The Adobe MAX 2021 conference will feature speeches from a variety of creative luminaries and celebrity speakers, as well as multiple sessions and workshops.

Notable speakers confirmed for the Adobe Max event include Oscar-winning writer and director, Chloé Zhao; Saturday Night Live comedian, Kenan Thompson; rapper, Young Thug; and actors Tilda Swinton, Henry Golding, and Zazie Beetz, amongst many others. 

Anyone, whether or not they have an Adobe account, is welcome to attend the Adobe Max event which is completely free to attend.

Facebook Connect  2021

Facebook, Inc., this week, will be hosting its annual Facebook Connect event where the company is hopefully going to make some new announcements. 

The event, previously known as Oculus Connect for seven years, has now been changed to Facebook Connect and is the new name for Facebook’s annual virtual reality development conference. This event will be completely virtual with no in-person component due to the pandemic. 

The major keynote will be given by Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, but there will be lots of other events as well. Facebook plans to discuss Mixed Reality and Augmented Reality. There will also be conversations around the roles that virtual reality will play in future productivity of workplaces.

The event will be streamed online and is free to all.
