We have curated a list of some interesting tech events you should watch out for this week, so let’s dive in right away.

Punuka Annual Lecture 2021

This week, PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors will be hosting its annual lecture for the year with the theme Fintech, Crypto, and Frontier Technologies in Trade

The event will host varying discussions on emerging and frontier technologies like Blockchain, virtual reality, AI, open banking, and cryptocurrencies. 

The event aims to focus on Nigeria’s burgeoning technological advancements and how the interconnectedness of the internet is disrupting traditional business models, legal services, regulatory expectations, consumer engagement and even the government services to the people. 

The key speaker for the event is Mr Von Simson, an expert at Ross Intelligence. Other notable speakers include Daniel Awe, Head of Africa Fintech Foundry; Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, co-founder, Andela; Olusegun Adeniyi, Chief Digital Officer, Wema Bank; and David Oluranti, Head of Legal at Flutterwave, to mention a few.

Creative Summit Nigeria

This week, the Enterprise Development Centre will be hosting its creative summit in Nigeria with the theme: Talent is not Enough!

The event is part of Nigeria’s creative Business Final cup event aimed at providing continuous learning and networking for young people in the creative sector.

EDC believes the cultural and creative industries in Africa have shown enormous promise in terms of accelerating economic growth and job creation, and can achieve even greater success with the right skill sets. 

The summit is intended to draw entrepreneurs and attendees from throughout Africa who will share their experiences as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2021.

The event will include a mix of pitching competitions and panel discussions.

Nvidia GTC 2021 

Nvidia will host one of its most anticipated AI conferences for developers, the NVIDIA GTC 2021, this week.

The event will take place from November 8 to 11, 2021, and will feature a keynote from NVIDIA CEO and founder Jensen Huang, as well as a number of seminars and discussions with world-renowned speakers.

According to the event website, Huang will present some of the most recent advances, driving quick technological advancements and new services to assist in tackling the world’s biggest challenges. 

Thousands of innovators, academics, thought leaders, and decision-makers are expected to attend the event, which will highlight the newest technological advancements in AI, computer graphics, data science, and other fields.

NVIDIA is expected to unveil substantial ambitions to scale its omniverse platforms (similar to Facebook’s  Metaverse) across enterprise and industries at GTC 2021, as well as demonstrate the technology’s capabilities.

e-Waste in Africa Conference

This week, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) will be hosting its 44th annual conference, with this year’s focus being on e-waste management in Africa. 

The event, also known as the AIC and CHEMRAWN XXII Conference, will aim to educate stakeholders on the complexities of the e-waste problem and provide guidance on how to deal with it.

This event will also include lectures, workshops, and interactions with industry representatives and key technology representatives, all of which will focus on the e-Waste value chain and the environment. 

Speakers and participants will come from all over the world to keep you up to date on the latest scientific breakthroughs, environmental best practices, and waste-to-wealth opportunities. 

In attendance will be notable speakers like Prof. Aliyu Jauro, DG, NESREA Nigeria; Prof. Oladele Osibanjo, MD/CEO, JEC Nigeria; Ifeanyi Ochonogho, E-Terra Technologies Ltd. Nigeria; and Adrian Clews, Hinckley Recycling, Nigeria, amongst others.
