July marks the beginning of the summer vacationing season. This is one of the best times to take that family or friendship group vacation due to the numerous summer offers and discounts available offered by airlines, hotels and even choice destinations in a bid to attract a high number of tourists this summer.
To help you get the best out of this summer vacation season, we will be reviewing travel and vacation apps all through the month of JULY! For these reviews, we will be looking at the app design, ease of use, what the app offers, pricing options and what users are saying.
For this week, we will be reviewing the Trip Advisor app. Ready? let’s go
The trip advisor app design
The trip advisor app is a beautifully designed app that you can’t help but be impressed by. The reaction I had when I launched the app was wow, quite colourful. I liked the multi-colour animated design of people on bikes or eating which depicts fun vacation activities.
Scrolling down, you will find other high-quality beautiful pictures of several; cities or content offerings available on the app.
The app design is impressive. Seeing those clear colourful pictures of exotic locations in various countries further ignites the hunger for travel in you. The fonts are bold, clear, simple, and very easy to read. And, this is a huge plus!
In all the app design is impressive and it is clear that a lot of thought and dedication to excellence was put into designing this app. It looks simple enough but to the trained eyes it is clear to see that it is a well-designed app.
Ease of use
The trip advisor app is quite easy, especially if you are signed in with your Google account. The app gives you suggestion of places to see and fun things to do in different cities based on your previous location-based searches on google.
So if you have ever searched for flight fees to Gombe, you will find Gombe on the dashboard under recent searches so all you need to do is to click on it and you will be shown an overview of the state, hotels, things to do when in Gombe and even restaurant suggestions.
This makes the app incredibly easy to use as all the information you would need about a particular location is brought to you in a complete neatly wrapped package and I am impressed by this as it is efficient and saves time plus energy.
Offerings
The trip advisor app offers you the ability to plan your trips with the tools and information you need for seamless planning and for a good travelling experience right at your fingertips. Here are a few things to look out for:
A) Access to trusted travel guides: using the trip advisor app, you have access to travel guides, millions of first-hand experience reviews about hotels, restaurants, tours, attractions and other experiences from fellow travellers who have already visited these locations.
B) A one-stop shop for travel planning: The app offers users a single platform to do everything concerning their travel, from the planning stage which is one of the features of the app, where you can even name the trip, save places you would like to visit, keep track of your plan notes, useful links and you can even share and collaborate with friends while planing in the case of a group trip.
The RESTAURANTS option gives you the top restaurants nearby using your location to find the restaurants closest to you and also has the option for finding the top restaurants in other popular destinations.
The forums option helps you gather information from other travellers who have been to places you may have plans to travel to. Forums are categorised by countries, continents and regions. You can join whichever best serves your purpose. Topics are discussed in these forums and they should not be confused with the REVIEWS.
Pricing
The app makes it possible for users to make hotel or tour booking through the app and also make restaurant reservations which is a great feature. All the information on the trip advisor app is free payment is only made through the app for hotel booking and paying for other services.
Some users feedback
We booked 3 excursions in Budapest with Tripadvisor….. couldn’t be happier. All of them gave us a wonderful experience…. We used Tripadvisor in Panama a couple of years ago. It was great as well. You can’t get the kind of local experience they bring to the table… Thanks, Tripadvisor for helping us have great excursions in places we have never been

I would appreciate it if when I add something to a trip list you wouldn’t have the notification interfere w\ scrolling, and don’t make it last so long. It literally blocks the whole screen for 12 seconds, and I can’t do anything until it goes away. That’s really frustrating! Enough with the Ads! If I’m looking at specific things to do in a specific location, I don’t want to accidentally touch an ad for Illinois or Louisiana; I’m not visiting those places! I would just like common sense.

Conclusion
My first observation while using the app is that there are too many ads, video ads. Sometimes, there are three on a page. This makes the app heavy and data-consuming.
This is a huge cause for concern. While you can pause the ads if you would rather not have them play, I think it is something the app developers should consider fixing as most people find numerous ads in an app to be a huge turn-off.
There you have it, folks, all you need to know about the Trip Advisor app. We still have a few travel apps to review and by the end of the month we would do a comparison of these apps and using select criteria, we shall decide which is the best travel app.
Have fun planning your summer vacation. Until next!
