Here is what to expect at Technext Coinference 2.0, Africa’s largest blockchain gathering

On Monday, the 3rd of October, 2022, the Landmark Event Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria, will play host to key players in the African crypto ecosystem at Technext Coinference 2.0, the largest blockchain gathering on the continent.

The maiden event held last year was themed: Reimaging the Future of Finance. It saw participation from representatives of the government of Nigeria, other regulators and key innovators in the crypto space. It had a total of 2,162 cryptocurrency enthusiasts, innovators and regulators in attendance.

The Nigerian minister of state for budget and national planning, Prince Clem Akanade Agba delivered the keynote address at the hybrid event. It was all plenary with 2 keynote addresses and 2-panel conversations.

But, this year’s event will be bigger and better. In this article, you will have a foretaste of what you should expect at Technext Coinference 2.0.

More engaging conversations

For Technext Coinference 2.0 with the theme, Blockchain and DeFi: Beyond the Hype, the scope of the conversation will cover the possibilities of Blockchain, Crypto, Web3 and the DeFi for Africa.

The event will have 2 plenary keynotes, 1 plenary panel and 4 breakout panel sessions. This way, attendees will have the opportunity to learn from a diverse array of speakers and engage more.

Panel sessions

The first keynote presentation: Blockchain for Africa: Decentralised economies, merged future will set the tone for the event by bringing to the fore the possibilities that adopting blockchain technology can mean for Africa.

The keynote will be delivered by Hanu Fejiro, CEO, Patricia.

This will be followed by the breakout panel sessions. Each session will have 4 panellists with hands-on experiences.

The first session, DeFi & the future of finance in Africa, will feature Buki Ogunsakin of BBO Solicitors and Sandi Bitenc, Chief Executive Officer, 3air who will discuss the concept of Decentralised Finance (DeFi) and the impact of  DeFi businesses in Africa.

The second session, Building a career in Blockchain will be moderated by Omoleye Omoruyi, Journalist, Technext.

Panellists on this segment include Deji Awosika, Founder, Web3 Bridge; Famous Ehichioya, CTO, Youverify; Seun Lanlege. Founder and Polytope Labs, Lagos, Nigeria. Here, speakers will outline clear and practicable steps to starting and developing a career in the blockchain ecosystem with an emphasis on use-case experiences from across the ecosystem. 

While the third session, All you need to know about Web 3, will explore the concept of Web3 and possibilities for the future as well as prescribe how participants can position themselves for future leverage.

The speakers include Oloye Oluniyi, co-founder, CryptoRoundupAfrica; Ebenezer Ugo Akachukwu – Artist & Web3.0; Oluchi Enebeli, Founder, Web3 Ladies; and Imade Iyamu, Legal and Compliance Manager, Mono. The session will be moderated by Oluwadamilare Akinpelu, Communications Manager at Technext.

The final panel session, Making money from NFTs, will focus on the concept of NFTs using relatable examples, describing the possibilities for the future for NFTs as well as how participants can position themselves for future leverage.

The speakers include Tunji Anjorin, President, Panaramic Entertainment; Efosa Ighodaro, Founder/CEO, Hashgreed; Anthony Azekwoh, Author and Artist; and Adisa Olashile, NFT Creator. The session will be moderated by Temitope Akintade, Journalist, Technext.

Celebrity spotlight

To spice things up, the event will feature “the celebrity spotlight” session which will see popular entertainment industry figures speak about their encounter with NFTs, DeFi, crypto, and the blockchain in a one-on-one conversation.

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Ikechukwu “Cross” Okonkwo is one of the confirmed speakers for this session. We are going to be unveiling more celebrities soon.

Closing plenary

This will be followed by another plenary keynote address on DeFi in Africa – Possibilities beyond the Hype, to be delivered by Emmanuel Babalola, CEO of Bundle Africa.

To wrap up the event. there will be a panel conversation on Crypto x Africa: the strains, the gains and the future by renowned innovators and crypto experts.

The key conversation will centre around the issues around crypto adoption in Africa, the challenges and what stakeholders need to do going forward.

The panellists in this session will include Senator Ihenyen, Lead Partner, Infusion Lawyers; Ruth Isalema, CEO, Bitmama; Chris Ani, Founder/CEO, Digital Abundance, Osamede Arhumnwunde, COO at GIGX, Owen Odia, Country Manager, Luno-Nigeria and Buchi Okoro, CEO and Co-Founder, Quidax.

Technext Coinference 2.0 will be a hybrid event (a combination of physical and virtual participation).
