eFactory is simplifying electricity payment online with its platform in Nigeria. Several challenges plague Nigeria’s electricity supply and payments, so the company has decided to solve a fundamental power management problem using technology.

As a technology company, it empowers electric utility providers and their customers with a platform to simplify how electricity is dispensed, tracked, and managed. eFactory started by developing a proprietary payment and token management system for an electricity distribution company in Nigeria.  The distribution company could accept payment and dispense tokens electronically with the web app. Over time, the application reduced the overhead for the Disco and simplified how its customers recharged their electric meters.

Currently, the company supports nine electricity distribution companies in Nigeria. This helps customers to buy electricity tokens for prepaid and postpaid meters of the following Discos –  AEDC, EKEDC, Ikeja Electric, IBEDC, Kaduna Electric, Jos Electric (JED), PHED, KEDC, and EEDC.

The eFactory metering solution helps estate management and facility managers to assign smart electricity meters to residents and manage their utility usage, generate electricity tokens and monitor the consumption with the electricity meter installed for each building.

The solution takes care of all electricity fund recovery with a prepaid system. Estate residents will use electricity on a ʻpay as you goʼ basis and make payment upfront, reducing the risk and tension around bill discrepancies.

This unique vending system is the first of its kind. It enables clients (landlords, property owners, developers and managing agents, and residents) to access detailed reports to track and manage utility consumption efficiently.
