Leading African media sales business, Ad Dynamo has appointed José Gonsalves as the Managing Director of its East African operations. Following his appointment, Gonsalves is tasked with supervising the company’s digital workstreams, deliverables, and more.
In a press statement shared with Technext, Ad Dynamo said it has entrusted its confidence in its new Managing Director due to his expertise.
“Gonsalves will bring with him an intimate understanding of the local nuances that govern GTM strategies, as well as agency experience in these markets,” the company said.
Jose Gonsalves has 15 years of experience in the digital media space. His expertise stemmed from time with international corporations in the African and European markets. He started at Acceleration Media where he worked with 100 tier-3 clients like ESPN North America and Microsoft.
Subsequently, he departed Acceleration to join Media24 as the Digital Ads Operations Manager. Afterwards, he became the Global Programmatic Manager at Addsuite. At Addsuite, he helped the company generate $25 million from billings to clients.
Speaking on his appointment, Jose Gonsalves lauded Ad Dynamo’s resilience as he recognises the media company’s incredible growth despite operating in a tough business climate.
“One of the key character traits that really intrigued me was how, taking into consideration the sheer size of Aleph, it still manages to retain its ability to be agile, and to be able to make quick and necessary decisions in order to service its clients more effectively,” he said.
A subsidiary of Aleph Group, Ad Dynamo majors in media sales and helps its portfolio of brands reach relevant customers in Africa. It is currently the exclusive media buying extension in Africa for brands like Spotify, Twitter, Snap, and Yahoo. Ad Dynamo is helping clients reach every digitally connected user through digital marketing.
Regarding the company’s future business moves, Gonsalves noted that the coming months present vast opportunities. He highlighted AI and ML, two of the world’s emerging technologies.
He stressed the need for Ad Dynamo to leverage these trends ahead of rivals to sustain their remarkable growth. Instead of only focusing on media buying, he has other plans. To him, the company should also study how media buying can be utilized as a tool.

Ad Dynamo’s other business moves
Ad Dynamo entered the Nigerian market in a notable expansion drive two months ago. Nigeria seemed like the next best place to try, considering its high internet penetration and high concentration of startup brands. Interestingly, this wasn’t Ad Dynamo’s first involvement in Nigeria.
In 2022, it launched a free digital academy called Digital Ad Expert in the country. This aligned with its intentions to upskill 50,000 digital learners globally. It also made some appointments. Earlier this year, Stephen Newton joined the company as the Managing Director for Africa. Carl Jordan was dubbed the head of its Regional Sales Director (Sub-Saharan Africa).
