After the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) banned taxi services at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja due to association conflicts, passengers are requesting the return of e-hailing services to make travelling to their destinations less challenging.
Passengers using the route, in response to the tweet by the authority, have now expressed their desire for e-hailing services to be permanently reinstated even after the crisis has ended. They believe it would be beneficial and have recommended it to the authorities.
Among the responses to the tweet, a user with the name Adesina Adeniji-Adele said; “FAAN Taxi was unnecessary and impractical if you ask me. Bring back Bolt.”
Another responder stated that the decision was long overdue while also mentioning that the services of the FAAN taxis were even more expensive and inconsiderate. The user said; “This is long overdue!!! FAAN was way too expensive and inconsiderate. Bring back Bolt and Rida!”
Many passengers have suggested that e-hailing companies like Bolt and Uber should be permitted to operate alongside FAAN taxis once they resume business. They hope that this competition will lower the high fares charged by FAAN due to their monopoly on the airport taxi business.
“Honestly, the wahala is too much. Just arrange with one bolt/Uber driver and call him when you arrive at the airport. When I call the Uber guy, he’ll just come as if we know each other and we move. They are giving Bolt and Uber guys wahala for that airport no be small,” a particular tweet said.
“@FAAN_Official faction in a federal government facility? Is it that y’all top officials are blind when you travel out of the country? Just give the contract to Uber or Bolt, no need to order online. All arriving passengers get into the car on the turn then the driver starts the trip.” someone else said.
