Raven Bank takes a bold step towards transforming education in Nigeria with its innovative Feather Internet Initiative, providing free high-speed WIFI on campuses. In a historic maiden launch at Ignatius Ajuru University (IAUE), the digital bank aims to bridge the digital divide and empower over 400,000 students across federal and state universities with seamless connectivity.
Raven Bank’s CEO, Uchenna Nnodim, highlighted the pressing need to address the digital gap of 70% of Nigerian students. Recognizing the internet’s vital role in accessing knowledge and information, the visionary initiative seeks to empower students with the tools they need for academic excellence.
The inaugural launch at IAUE marks the beginning of Raven Bank’s ambitious plans. Nnodim revealed the bank’s intent to expand to 26 additional locations, with execution targeted for the second quarter of 2024.
The goal is to provide free internet access to students, enabling academic pursuit and research.
The event also featured an interactive workshop on financial literacy led by Raven CFO Chidinma Maduwesi. Experts engaged students on savings, investments, and entrepreneurship, enriching their growth trajectories alongside Feather Internet’s connectivity benefits.
In attendance, Professor Okey Okechukwu, Vice Chancellor of IAUE, lauded Raven Bank’s efforts in implementing Feather Internet on campus. He emphasized that the internet enhances academic pursuits and equips students with crucial life skills for their journey beyond academics.
