Attendees of the previous editions have been more than blockchain enthusiasts. Year after year, we have welcomed passionate individuals seeking to develop themselves and their immediate circumstances using the best available technology.

The first edition (held in 2021) had the theme Reimaging the Future of Finance. It had participation from government representatives, other regulators, and key innovators in the crypto space who discussed how crypto could determine the future of the continent’s financial space.

The first keynote presentation, titled “Blockchain in Africa – New Frontiers, New Possibilities“, will set the tone for the event. It will highlight the impact of blockchain technology in the innovative landscape across Africa. It would also answer pertinent questions and provide solutions to some of the challenges that the Blockchain industry faces on the continent.

Lastly, the presenter will describe the future possibilities for the African continent and identify how attendees can position themselves for profitable gains.

The second keynote address, titled “Blockchain and the Future of Payments in Africa“, would emphasize how blockchain technology has influenced the payment landscape in Africa, as we know it.

There are many claims to the advantages of facilitating payment via blockchain technology and this presentation would highlight these claims as well as the challenges ahead.

Panel discussions

Sandwiched between the two keynote presentations are four breakout panel sessions that will cover most of the new and emerging technologies that attendees would be willing to leverage.

Each session will have 4 panellists with hands-on experience in select topics such as artificial intelligence, gaming, and blockchain. The breakout conversations will highlight important select areas and, importantly, help attendees position for growth.

The sessions include:

  1. Crypto beyond buying and selling: There is a misconception that the only purpose for mining or owning cryptocurrency is to exchange it for money. Hence, many people keep their coins and hope that they appreciate and feel like they have made a bad business decision when the value drops.

This breakout session will explore other uses of cryptocurrency other than exchanging it for money.
  2. Blockchain and AI: Opportunities Today and Tomorrow: Blockchain technology and Artificial intelligence have dominated the tech space so much in the past few months that many people think they are just buzzwords.

However, there are many opportunities for young Africans to benefit from these technologies and this breakout session will focus on how we can do that.
  3. How to make money from gaming: Gaming has become more than a pastime for children. Now, people play to earn, and make profits from games that they have developed, some even solve huge societal problems like climate change from gamifying educational materials.

This breakout session will explore means to make profits from playing, creating, or just loving games.
  4. The future of entertainment with NFT and AI: Entertainment -movies, art, and music- is very important to Nigerians and technology has come to disrupt that space as well. With the use of non-fungible tokens, fans can now interact in a more immersive way with their favourite artist while artificial intelligence has influenced art in such a way that we cannot be sure of what is real and what is not, or can we?

This panel session will cover all discussions related to the influence of artificial intelligence, and blockchain technology -especially NFTs on the entertainment space.
