WhoGoHost completes the acquisition of SendChamp to widen its value offering

Leading cloud infrastructure company, WhoGoHost has completed the acquisition of SendChamp, a cloud communications startup that offers seamless online messaging to African businesses. Although WhoGoHost did not disclose the amount, it stated that the acquisition deal was part of a strategy to deepen its value offering for customers.

It is worth mentioning that while the monetary value of the acquisition is not known, the deal is likely to benefit all parties involved. For instance, WhoGoHost will enjoy access to SendChamp’s product offerings including marketing messages, OTP, and customer support systems. With these new features, WhoGoHost stands a great chance of widening its value proposition.

Similarly, the deal will grant SendChamp access to its parent company’s database of over 100,000 customers. WhoGoHost considers the takeover of SendChamp as the first of many efforts to transition from a domain and hosting infrastructure company to a diverse digital services platform. As a digital services outlet, the company will then concentrate on domains, online presence, communication, and online commerce products.

Over the last 16 years, Whogohost has provided domain hosting services to hundreds of thousands of businesses. The acquisition of SendChamp presents us with a unique opportunity to evolve our business from domain-hosting to a one-stop shop for digital services for entrepreneurs and businesses in Africa. We’re excited about what this means for us,” said WhoGoHost’s founder Opeyemi Awoyemi regarding the deal.

Goodness Kayode, the CEO of SendChamp also commented on the purchase of his company. He said “We received offers from a number of businesses across diverse industries at different points in our journey but ultimately went with Whogohost when an offer came given the synergies between our products and strategic positioning are clear. With this acquisition, we get to keep building SendChamp as an interoperable product within Whogohost’s integrated platform.

Despite being a relatively new company, SendChamp has partnered with over 5,000 businesses including Surebet247, Baxi, Chowdeck, Wirepay by Maplerad, and Bumpa. It announced a $100,000 angel round in 2021 with participation from DFS Lab, Hustler Capital, HoaQ Club, Velocity Digital, and other investors.

Next steps for WhoGoHost after the deal

Following the acquisition, SendChamp will continue operations as an independent player for the next few months. However, its products and other offerings will become accessible through its parent company’s integrated platform. The rationale for this method is to ensure that customer experience is not affected by the transition process.

Meanwhile, SendChamp’s CEO and CTO will join WhoGoHost along with some other team members. Goodness Kayode will assume the role of the Chief Product Officer while Damilola Olotu will become the Chief Technology Officer.
