In recent years, Nigeria has witnessed a growing appreciation for technology leaders who are using digital innovation to drive meaningful social impact. This shift is being reinforced by platforms such as the Social Impact and Sustainability Award (SISA), which continues to shine a spotlight on individuals and organizations transforming society through purpose-driven innovation.
The 5th edition of the Social Impact and Sustainability Award (SISA) 2024, organized by CSR REPORTERS, was a strong reflection of this momentum. The event was marked by celebration, recognition, and renewed focus on how technology can be harnessed to solve social challenges at scale. This year’s edition placed particular emphasis on tech leaders whose work has delivered measurable and sustainable impacts across communities.
The tech-focused award categories at SISA 2024 underscored the expanding role of digital solutions in social development. These categories included:
. Digital Innovation for Sustainable Impact Award
. Excellence in Technology-Driven Social Impact Award
. Tech for Good Leadership Award
. Impact through Digital Transformation Award
. Sustainable Digital Solutions Award
. Innovation and Digital Empowerment Award
For many attendees, the highlight was seeing tech professionals receive the same level of recognition traditionally reserved for philanthropy, charity, and CSR-focused initiatives. It was a clear signal that technology-led social impact is no longer peripheral but central to Nigeria’s development narrative.

Speaking at the event, Eche Munoye, Chief Editor of CSR REPORTERS, explained that SISA’s core mission is to recognize change-makers across corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and social impact with technology playing an increasingly critical role.
“Overall, SISA seeks to recognize individuals and organizations making waves in CSR, social impact, and sustainability,” Munoye said. “The tech categories specifically focus on professionals achieving these outcomes using technology.”
He emphasized that the awards are backed by a structured and rigorous review process, enabling the editorial board and independent review panel to identify the most deserving winners in each category.
One of the standout aspects of SISA 2024 was the diversity of sectors represented among the winners. Unlike the last edition, which was dominated by fintech, awardees spanned agrotech, e-government, edtech, fintech, HR tech, and broader ecosystem support initiatives
Munoye highlighted the Innovation and Digital Empowerment Award winner, Prince Uchenna Chukwu, whose nomination was driven by impactful work across eGovernment, HR tech, and tech ecosystem development as an example of diversity of sectors represented.
“This year’s nominees were particularly strong,” Munoye added. “We had to look beyond impact alone and also consider scale. Being selected as a winner is a very significant achievement.”
SISA 2024 reinforced an important message: technology is one of the most powerful tools for social transformation in Nigeria today. By recognizing leaders who are using innovation to empower communities, improve governance, and create sustainable solutions, SISA continues to help shape a future where tech and social good go hand in hand.
