Q1 of 2025 saw tremendous work done to drive innovation, blockchain and digital literacy in Nigeria with Ginakev Digital Academy (GIDA)™ taking the lead.

From January 25th to February 15th, 2025, GIDA™, in partnership with the Starknet Foundation, led a powerful blockchain education tour across five Nigerian cities – Kaduna, Ibadan, Benin, Anambra, and Enugu. The GIDA ChainUp Roadshows were more than a meetup; it was a movement to educate, connect, and onboard a new generation of African Web3 builders.

The Tour of Transformation

The roadshows reached over 600 participants across board, maintaining a 98.71 per cent attendance rate. With an average of 128 attendees per city, the events featured keynote speeches and panel sessions across the cities of Kaduna, Ibadan, Benin, Anambra, and Enugu led by experts and partner communities like BlockheaderWeb3, Starknet Africa, BlockchainUNN, Unizik Blockchain Labs, Anambra Techies, Blockchain LAUTECH, WomenInDefi (Edo & Anambra chapters), Web3 Nigeria (Anambra Chapter), ETH Enugu and others.

Sessions focused on Layer 2 scaling, kickstarting a career in Web3, how to be a builder, Cairo programming, real-world decentralised applications and more. Attendees also took part in networking with students, developers, and industry professionals.

The ChainUp Roadshow covered four geo-political zones in Nigeria, helping to ensure regional inclusivity and outreach to underrepresented tech communities. All events were free, giving attendees access to high-quality blockchain education and the opportunity to apply for scholarships to the GIDA Cairo Web3 Developer Bootcamp 2.0.

Post Chainup Roadshow: The Cairo Bootcamps

Scholarships were awarded to all attendees of the ChainUp Roadshow for the GIDA Cairo Web3 Developer Bootcamp 2.0, which a lot of people took up on. A total of 172 people registered for the bootcamp following the roadshow.

The bootcamp recorded a male-to-female attendee ratio of 7 to 3 and achieved a major milestone with the bootcamp’s first-ever female graduate.

Thanks to this, GIDA has laid the groundwork for future startups, developer collaborations, and localised decentralised solutions. Strategic regional partnerships helped extend the program’s reach and impact. A more detailed report of the bootcamp and roadshow stats can be found in GIDA’s 2025 Q1 impact report here

Gitcoin Recognition

GIDA’s work gained international validation through participation in the Gitcoin “Web3 for Universities” funding round held in March 2025. The academy received 1,481.79 dollars in matched funding from 84 unique contributors, with a total of 207 dollars donated. This community support will help sustain GIDA’s decentralised education mission.
