The United States Mission in Nigeria has officially unveiled the ‘Window on America’ initiative at the Ogun Tech Hub. The facility, located in the state’s capital, is set to offer digital operations such as free high-speed internet and computer usage for young ones in Ogun State.
In a statement on its X (formerly Twitter) page, the US Mission explained that the Ogun Tech Hub Window on America facility is built to tailor programs to youths’ digital needs, expand digital access and foster skills development among Nigerian youths through a state-of-the-art ICT and resource centre.
“Hello Abeokuta! We’re excited to announce the official opening of the Ogun Tech Hub Window on America. This vibrant space offers free high-speed internet, computers, and programs to help young people gain employability, entrepreneurship, leadership, and tech skills,” it said.

According to the US Consulate, the space is built in partnership with the Ogun State Government and GFA Technologies, a software company that builds a suite of software solutions for startups, SMEs and organisations. It further explained that the facility is part of its wider network of 29 American Spaces across Nigeria, designed to empower youth and broaden access to global knowledge and opportunities.
The centre is equipped with modern computers, high-speed internet, and access to thousands of books and scholarly resources via electronic libraries. The agency urged students, creatives, entrepreneurs, and educators across the state to explore the full range of opportunities available at the centre.
In his reaction at the launch, the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, urged young Nigerians to leverage opportunities in the ICT sector to become self-reliant and globally competitive. He added that the initiative is a visionary public-private partnership designed to connect the aspirations of Nigerian youths with global innovations.
In line with these aspirations, the Window on America initiative is expected to significantly boost youth empowerment, digital inclusion, and international engagement in the State.

The Ogun tech hub and digital innovation park facility
The Ogun State Government has been on the move to improve digital access and facilities, with recent initiatives such as the commissioning of a Digital Innovation Park. This is part of its plans to foster innovation, provide digital skills training, and connect homegrown talent with global opportunities.
Last month, the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy commissioned the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Digital Innovation Park in Abeokuta, designed to foster technological advancement, support startups, and provide young Nigerians with the resources needed to thrive in the digital economy.
The Minister, Dr. Bosun Tijani, highlighted that the park would serve as a hub for innovation, providing access to high-speed internet, co-working spaces, and training programs aimed at equipping the youth in the state with essential digital skills.
“The digital park is a vital part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places digital innovation, youth empowerment, and inclusive growth at the heart of Nigeria’s journey to a $1 trillion economy. We are committed to creating environments where young Nigerians can harness technology to solve local challenges and compete globally.” Tijani said in June.
The NCC Digital Innovation Park represents a milestone, serving as a platform for youth engagement, a place where skills meet opportunity, where ideas become ventures, and ventures become industries. In addition, it stands as a catalyst for community transformation, especially for remote locations.

As part of the effort to position Abeokuta and Ogun State as the next tech hub in Nigeria and Africa at large, the Ogun Tech Hub facility was built to ignite creative and innovative social tech ventures. The project launch, dating back to 2019, now serves as a place for technologists, tech companies, social entrepreneurs and impact investors to co-create new solutions to the state’s social problems and innovate new technology.
The Ogun Tech Hub was also designed to support individuals and organisations to facilitate creative thinking and collaborative problem solving using the smart application of technology in order to solve commercial and social problems.
