Data centres are transforming Nigeria into West Africa’s primary digital hub by domesticating digital assets and fueling AI and technological innovation. It’s also a response to Nigeria’s growing population and the need to improve data connectivity.
Despite significant power and geographical challenges, the facilities are shifting from offshore hosting to local infrastructure, thereby enhancing job creation and economic growth.
As data centres emerge as the physical backbone of Nigeria’s digital economy, this piece spotlights all 28 facilities in Nigeria, both operational and under construction. Lagos holds the largest share, with 21 centres, followed by FCT Abuja with 3 centres. Kano, Enugu, Rivers and Ogun have 1 each.

1. MTN Ikoyi Switch
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
MTN Ikoyi Switch serves as an important node within MTN’s network infrastructure. It plays a pivotal role in expanding connectivity services across Nigeria, ensuring efficient data routing, high availability, and seamless communication services for millions of users.
2. MTN Lagos, Ojota
Location: Ikorodu Road, Lagos
MTN Ojota is a state-of-the-art data centre designed to provide a comprehensive range of services, including cloud services, internet of things (IoT) solutions, and data hosting and colocation via a high-grade submarine cable infrastructure.
3. MTN Sifiso Dabengwa Data Centre
Location: Ajao Road, Lagos.
Launched in 2025, MTN Sifiso Dabengwa Data Centre marks the operator’s entry into the Nigerian data centre market. Phase I of the facility provides 4.5MW of capacity, accommodating 780 racks, and currently holds a Tier III accreditation.
Phase II will increase its capacity to between 14MW and 20MW, while total investment for both phases is estimated at $235 million.

4 & 5. Digital Realty LOS1 and LOS 2
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
The facilities provide secure, cloud-neutral and carrier-neutral colocation services with 200 m² of whitespace and serve as a major internet peering point in the region. They form part of Digital Realty’s interconnected Lagos campus infrastructure.
6 & 7. Digital Realty LKK1 and LKK2
Location: Medallion Lane & Okun Ajah Rd, Lagos
LKK 1 & 2 are compact data centres designed to support regional digital growth. The facility spans 260 m² (2,799 ft²), offering scalable colocation options from single cabinets to full suites.
8. NTT DATA, Inc. Internet Solutions
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
Built by Japan-based Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT), the Tier III data centre is designed to save energy and optimise power consumption. It tends to make it more efficient and less costly to run, which helps to contain costs and meet sustainability targets
9. Africa DataCentres LOSI
Location: Eko Atlantic, Lagos
The 10 MW data centre marks a significant step forward in Africa Data Centres’ ambitious long-term strategy to digitise Africa. The facility joins the company’s network of data centres, which includes Johannesburg, Nairobi, Cape Town, Harare, and Kigali.

10. Open Access Data Centres (LOS 1)
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Open Access Data Centres’ Lagos facility (OADC Lagos) is designed to be the most client-centric data centre in West Africa. The Tier III facility is the first pan-African network of data centres to be certified by the Uptime Institute.
11. Equinix (MainOne) LG1
Location: Lekki, Lagos
MainOne’s MDX-I Lekki Data Centre is a Tier III certified facility that provides the space for housing IT equipment, power distribution, cooling, cabling, fire suppression and physical security systems. The facility is situated next to MainOne’s cable landing station facility with access to the 1.92 Tbps international subsea cable and a world-class IP NGN network.
12. Equinix (MainOne) LG2
Location: Lekki, Lagos.
Equinix LG2 is another world-class International Business Exchange (IBX) data centre. As part of Equinix’s Lagos Campus, it offers a robust platform for digital leaders to interconnect with a broad range of network, cloud, and IT service providers. LG2 provides 644m² of colocation space with a floor load capacity of 10 kN/m²
13. Equinix MainOne (LG3)
Location: Victoria Island
Initially slated to open in 2025, Equinix LG3 is still under construction. It’s being designed with industry-leading reliability standards, targeting over 99.999% uptime.

14 & 15. Rack Centre LGS1 and LGS2
Location: Oregun, Lagos
The data centres have a network of over 40 local carriers, and all 5 undersea cables (ACE, GLO1, MainOne, SAT-3, WACS) are directly connected with a Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility (TCCF). LGS1 commenced operation in 2023, while LGS2 started two years later.
16. INQ.Digital Nigeria Limited
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
As one of Africa’s leading digital services providers, INQ. built the facility to provide innovative services in edge AI and IoT, fabric, SDN/NFV for edge cloud, secure access services, and edge and elastic edge. The data centre is Tier III accredited.
17. Nxtra Lagos Data Centre Park
Location: Eko Atlantic, Lagos
Still under construction, Nxtra by Airtel data centre will have a total power capacity of 34 MW, supporting over 3,000 racks with high power density, reaching up to 30 KW per rack.
Expected to be operational by the end of 2026, it is the first of five planned hyperscale data centres in Africa by Airtel and is set to be the largest data centre in Nigeria.

18. Kasi Cloud
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Kasi Cloud is Nigeria’s pioneering 100MW AI-focused hyperscale data centre campus spanning 42 hectares. The facility is built for artificial intelligence workloads, to accommodate high-density GPU racks, and advanced computing demands

19. Fringe Ikoyi Metro EDGE
Location: Ikoyi, Lagos
The Ikoyi Metro Edge facility provides 1MW of behind-the-meter capacity and can accommodate up to 72 racks. Launched in January 2926, the facility is Fringe Africa’s first EDGE data centre and plans to expand its presence with five facilities across regional cities by 2030.
Fringe Africa was founded by Vremudia Oghene-Ruemu and Andrew Agbo-Madaki.
20. Excelsimo Networks Data Centre
Location: Gbagada, Lagos
According to the company, the data centre infrastructure is designed to ensure uptime, high availability, and scalability for colocation, cloud and managed services customers. The Tier III facility comprises redundant network architecture, redundant cooling, and fire suppression systems.
21. ipNX Data Centre
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos
The ipNX Nigeria Ltd-owned facility provides state-of-the-art access to help businesses manage locations to host their data online or install servers and storage devices.
22. Digital Realty (ABV1)
Location: Kolda Street, Abuja
With a total building size of 200 m² (2,150 ft²), the ABV1 Data Centre by Digital Realty is positioned to provide direct access to the Nigerian Internet Exchange Point (NIXP), facilitating connectivity and data exchange.

23. National Shared Services Centre (NSSC)
Location: Kur Mohammed Ave, Abuja
Galaxy Backbone operates the NSSC, boasting a Uptime Institute Certified Tier III data centre. It offers co-location of servers, cloud backup, cloud storage, and disaster recovery. Its operations are also ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 compliant.
24. Layer3 Data Centre
Location: Gwani St, Abuja
Layer3 DC services is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solution that allows businesses of all types to virtually build, manage, store and deploy servers.
25. Galaxy Backbone Kano
Location: Ahmadu Bello Way, Kano
In September 2022, Galaxy Backbone launched a data centre in Kano. This facility is one of only two Tier IV data centres in the country and a select few in sub-Saharan Africa. The data centre also serves as a Data Recovery and Business Continuity center, with a storage capacity of approximately 2.2 petabytes.
26. Galaxy Backbone Enugu
Location: Opara Avenue, Enugu, Enugu State
It features a robust, modular design with 128 initial rack spaces, which is scalable up to 512 racks. The centre is manned by certified experts and holds an ISO 2000 certification.
It acts as the primary back-up to GBB’s national Tier III facility in Abuja and drives digital transformation across South-East Nigeria.

27. Equinix Rivers
Location: Rivers
Still under construction, Equinix plans to redistribute the focus on Lagos to transform its submarine capacity into a South-South digital ecosystem, and others. The planning started in February 2026.
28. Tetracore Atakobo
Locations: Atakobo Energy Park, Ijebu East, Ogun State
The Tetracore Atakobo Data Centre is a $400 million, 20MW Tier III facility. The project is a collaboration of Tetracore Energy Group, Huawei, and Inspirive Technologies. It is situated within the Atakobo Energy Park and bypasses the national grid by directly utilising an on-site 100MW independent gas power plant.
Construction started in March 2026.
