MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a major restructuring of its DStv and GOtv subscription packages, introducing eight new offerings designed to give customers more entertainment options, improved access to sports and better value for money.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during a media briefing where the company unveiled its new DStv Expect More offering, marking one of its biggest product changes since becoming part of French broadcasting giant CANAL+. Under the new arrangement, DStv will offer four packages: Starter, Select, Sports and Premium, while GOtv will have Easy, Starter, Select and Sports.
The new DStv and Gotv packages are expected to become available from November 5, 2026, as part of MultiChoice’s broader efforts to simplify its subscription structure and respond to changing consumer preferences.
Speaking during the unveiling, MultiChoice Nigeria CEO Kemi Omotosho explained that the restructuring followed a review of the company’s business strategy, particularly as more viewers now consume entertainment on smartphones, smart TVs, tablets, and streaming services.

“We have overhauled the entire strategy of the business. And what we’re telling you today is just one piece of that strategy,” the CEO said.
The company acknowledged that its existing DStv and GOtv subscription structure had become complicated for customers, with too many packages making it difficult for subscribers to identify which option best suited their entertainment needs.
“We think we have too many packs today. If I ask anyone here what pack they are on, maybe five out of seven might remember, but two might not remember because there are just too many packs,” she added.
According to MultiChoice, the new DStv and GOtv subscription structure is built around three priorities: simplicity, better value for money and greater customer choice.
What subscribers will get from the new DStv and GOtv packages
One of the major highlights is the introduction of a DStv entry-level package priced at ₦6,000 monthly, offering subscribers access to local entertainment, movies, music and selected sporting events.
DStv Select will cost ₦11,000 monthly, while Sports and Premium will cost ₦21,000 and ₦44,500, respectively. The Sports package is designed particularly for football enthusiasts, providing access to major competitions alongside general entertainment channels. Premium remains the highest subscription tier, offering a broader selection of sports, movies, documentaries and international entertainment.

For GOtv customers, the new Easy package will serve as the entry-level offering, followed by Starter, Select and Sports.
MultiChoice also announced a ₦15,000 decoder and subscription bundle, while customers will have the option of subscribing to DStv’s streaming service without purchasing a decoder.
“We’ve overhauled the entire package. So we’re not referring to our old packs. This is a whole new lineup of new packages that we’ve launched for our customers,” Senior Vice President Tope Oshikoya explained.

New channels, more football and premium entertainment at lower prices
Beyond restructuring its packages, MultiChoice is also expanding access to premium sports and entertainment channels that were previously reserved for higher subscription tiers.
Among the additions is SuperSport KickOff, which will bring selected major football matches, including a Premier League match of the week, to subscribers on lower-priced packages.
The company also confirmed that its ₦21,000 DStv Sports package will provide access to all UEFA Champions League and Premier League matches, alongside Europa League fixtures, NBA basketball and other sports programming. This means football fans will no longer need to subscribe to the more expensive Compact Plus package to watch all Champions League matches.

Oshikoya also said Movie lovers will also benefit from the restructuring, with M-Net Movies+ bringing blockbuster movies and international entertainment to more affordable packages. MultiChoice is also refreshing its movie offerings with channels dedicated to popular stars and classic films. On the local entertainment front, the company announced Africa Magic Plus, a variety channel combining African productions with international shows, music, children’s programming and telenovelas.
GOtv subscribers are also expected to benefit from expanded football coverage and additional movie channels, including entertainment previously unavailable on the platform.
According to MultiChoice, these changes are intended to make premium content accessible to more households without requiring customers to move to the highest subscription tiers.
