MultiChoice Nigeria has revamped its movie lineup, replacing four M-Net Movies channels with three as part of a broader update to its DStv and GOtv packages.
Subscribers gained access to the new channels: M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars, and M-Net Legends, on September 17. The three replace the previous four-channel lineup, a move the company says is intended to cut down on repeated screenings and give viewers a clearer choice based on the kind of films they want to watch.
For subscribers, the change is straightforward: fewer channels, but each one with a more defined identity. Rather than sifting through a crowded slate of similar options, viewers can now pick a channel according to their mood, be it blockbusters, classics, or something in between.
The shuffle marks the opening phase of a broader plan. MultiChoice says it intends to overhaul more of its packages in the coming months, with the goal of giving Nigerian customers greater choice and flexibility in how they access entertainment.

The company has yet to give details on what those further changes will involve, but the direction is clear: the way DStv and GOtv subscribers find and watch movies is being redrawn, and this is only the first step.
What DStv and GOtv Nigerian subscribers are getting
The new lineup splits neatly along taste. M-Net Movies+ carries recent blockbusters from major international and local studios. M-Net Stars mixes big hits with older favourites across genres. M-Net Legends gathers classic titles alongside newer discoveries. Together, the three channels replace the four they succeeded on September 17.
There is more for subscribers on lower DStv packages. MultiChoice says some will now get certain movies up to six months earlier than before, a quiet but significant shift for customers who previously waited longer for new titles to come down.
Movies are not the only addition. SuperSport Kick-Off, a football-focused channel, and France 24, which carries international news and dedicated coverage of African and global affairs, have both joined the DStv lineup.
What remains unclear is how all of this will be shared out. MultiChoice has yet to publish the full package details, saying only that the refreshed DStv and GOtv packages will be announced in the coming weeks. Until then, subscribers cannot know exactly which channels will land on which tier, or what, if anything, the changes will cost them.
The move fits a pattern. In June, MultiChoice ran its “Open Time” promotion, automatically bumping eligible customers to higher packages at no extra charge for the month. DStv Confam subscribers were moved up to Compact, Yanga customers got Confam, and on GOtv, Supa and Max users were upgraded to Supa Plus.
That promotion has since ended. But this latest round of channel changes suggests MultiChoice is still rethinking how Nigerian subscribers receive content, and testing how much it can hand them without pushing them into a pricier tier.
