Leading telecoms operator MTN Nigeria has launched ‘Y’ello Y’Fi’, an enterprise Wi-Fi and analytics solution designed to equip Nigerian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with digital tools and help businesses understand customer behaviour, usage patterns and preferences.
According to a statement released by MTN on Tuesday and seen by Technext, the platform provides real-time customer behaviour analytics that help SMEs refine their marketing strategies, strengthen customer engagement, and build more meaningful relationships with their customers.
When customers log in to an enterprise WiFi, the tool wants business to gain from offering a free WiFi. The tool helps businesses capture valuable customer insights, manage connected devices, run promotional campaigns, and personalise Wi-Fi landing pages to reflect their brand identity.

The system tracks activity such as how many people visit and use the Wi-Fi, how often a customer returns, and how long they stay in the store. Businesses can then use the information gathered to send targeted special offers, run promo campaigns, or improve customer service.
“Y’ello Y’Fi enables businesses to unlock greater value from their Wi-Fi networks by transforming connectivity into a powerful customer engagement tool,” part of the statement reads.

The intervention comes at a time when Nigerian businesses are struggling to understand customer behaviour and build meaningful engagement in a competitive industry. With the absence of analytics and insights into how customers act and what they want, most businesses struggle to turn everyday customer interactions into opportunities for loyalty and long-term growth.
While reacting to the launch, Lynda Saint-Nwafor, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Nigeria, noted that Y’ello Y’Fi provides SMEs with access to branded digital experiences, actionable insights, and effective network controls.
“Small businesses need more than connectivity to compete and grow. They need tools that help them understand their customers, improve engagement, and make smarter decisions. Our goal is to make digital solutions smarter, more accessible, and more relevant to the everyday realities of doing business in Nigeria,” she added in the statement.

WiFi: MTN’s Y’ello Y’Fi tackles network congestion
While most businesses make WiFi available for customers, it often generates traffic congestion that directly hinders network speed for their staff/workers.
MTN said it’s addressing this through Y’ello Y’Fi by setting separate access paths for staff and guests. With this, businesses gain greater visibility into network usage while optimising performance, improving security, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Another issue it tackles is security. If every customer uses the same Wi-Fi as the office staff, the internet slows and poses a security risk. Y’ello Y’Fi solves this by keeping the staff network and the guest/customer network completely separate and controls how much bandwidth guest users get so that one person doesn’t slow down the connection for everyone else.
MTN noted that Y’ello Y’Fi is available on MTN’s 5G Tozed X25 and X100 Broadband Routers. Existing users can add the analytics solution to their current service, while new customers can subscribe to a complete package that includes a compatible router, dedicated data, and full access to the platform, according to the operator.

The Y’ello Y’Fi launch comes after MTN Nigeria launched its FlyX broadband solution to expand the penetration of high-speed internet in Nigeria. It comes as an alternative to FibreX, the Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) broadband network, which has received significant interest from internet subscribers since it was rebranded in early 2025.
Through FlyX, the leading operator aims to deliver speed, unlimited data, reliability, and a seamless internet experience for Nigerian homes and businesses. The tool is built with indoor components powered by the operator’s 4G and 5G capabilities.
