Radisson unveils new ChatGPT app for easier hotel search and booking

Radisson Hotel Group has launched an app that utilises ChatGPT, allowing travellers to search for hotels, compare accommodation options, and check live room rates through conversations with the AI chatbot.

In collaboration with Accenture, the app is available as @RadissonHotels on ChatGPT. It allows users to search over 1,000 Radisson properties in more than 100 countries using natural language prompts, eliminating the need to navigate traditional booking websites.

For example, travellers can ask ChatGPT to recommend a family-friendly hotel in Amsterdam or suggest a property near the Eiffel Tower in Paris with facilities such as a gym and spa. The app then returns relevant hotel options, including room availability, pricing, amenities and location details, before directing users to Radisson’s website to complete their booking.

Users can start a new ChatGPT conversation by mentioning @RadissonHotels at the beginning of their prompt and describing the type of hotel they are looking for. For example, a traveller could request a family-friendly hotel in Amsterdam or a hotel near the Eiffel Tower in Paris that includes a gym and spa.

The app displays Radisson properties with live room rates, hotel amenities, location details, and interactive maps. After selecting a hotel, users are redirected to the Radisson Hotels website to finalise their booking.

Radisson bets on ChatGPT-assisted travel planning

The launch signifies a significant shift in how travel companies are handling online bookings, as an increasing number of consumers turn to AI assistants for researching destinations and accommodations.

Radisson announced that its ChatGPT app is part of a strategy to enhance the discoverability of its hotels through AI-powered conversations, rather than relying solely on traditional search engines and booking platforms. The company refers to this approach as “agentic commerce,” where AI assists users in discovering, comparing, and selecting services through conversation.

“AI is radically transforming how people search for and book hotel stays, and we are committed to being at the forefront of this shift,” said Gianni Di Fede, Chief Commercial Officer at Radisson Hotel Group.

“With Accenture, we are reimagining hotel discovery for the next generation of travellers, meeting guests in the planning moment with a branded experience that makes it easier to find, compare and book Radisson Hotels properties.

The app connects directly to Radisson’s hotel systems, providing real-time information on room availability, pricing, and hotel details.

Radisson and Accenture announced plans to enhance their experience over time by incorporating features such as personalised recommendations, recognition for loyalty programs, reservation management, trip modifications, and AI concierge services.

This launch comes as travel companies increasingly adapt their services for AI-assisted trip planning. According to Accenture Consumer Pulse Research, 87% of travellers are open to using an AI-powered travel assistant to help them find suitable travel options. In comparison, 71% expect AI to influence at least half of their spending on hotels and airlines in the next year.

The new ChatGPT app also builds on Accenture’s broader partnership with OpenAI, which aims to assist businesses in integrating AI into their customer experiences and operational processes.
