NCR Nigeria Plc has appointed Mrs Oluwatoyin Saraki as a Non-Executive Director on its board, effective June 11, 2026. The technology company stated that this decision will strengthen its corporate governance framework as it continues its financial recovery.

The Board of Directors has approved the appointment through a written resolution, which takes effect immediately. However, it is still subject to ratification by shareholders at the company’s next Annual General Meeting. This information was disclosed in a statement signed by Company Secretary Bernice Anya.

Oluwatoyin Saraki is the wife of former Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Founder-President of The Wellbeing Foundation Africa, a non-governmental organisation that focuses on women’s and children’s health throughout sub-Saharan Africa. She has over two decades of experience in leadership roles that encompass reproductive health, maternal and newborn care, gender-based violence prevention, education, and socio-economic empowerment.

NCR Nigeria described her as bringing “a strong combination of legal expertise, international governance experience, and strategic leadership across the private, public, and multilateral sectors” to its board.

An NCR board addition backed by a strong track record

Saraki has extensive credentials in international governance. She serves as a Special Advisor and is a member of the Independent Advisory Group of the World Health Organisation’s Regional Office for Africa.

In 2022, she was appointed the inaugural Global Health Ambassador for the WHO Foundation. Additionally, she is the UNFPA Family Planning Champion for Nigeria, the Save the Children Newborn Health Champion for Nigeria, and a Global Champion for the White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood.

At the global governance level, she serves on the Board of Trustees for Seed Global Health and is a member of the Bayer Sustainability Council as well as the AstraZeneca Global Breast Cancer Care Council. In 2024, she was appointed as a Champion of the World Economic Forum Global Alliance for Women’s Health.

Additionally, she is a member of the World Economic Forum Global Activators Network focused on Women’s Health and acts as a judge for MIT Solve, where she is the Challenge Leader for Maternal and Newborn Health.

The appointment occurs at a crucial time for NCR Nigeria. The company returned to profitability in 2025, recording a pre-tax profit of ₦196.04 million after suffering a pre-tax loss of ₦2.1 billion in 2024. This turnaround was fueled by increased revenue, reduced operating costs, and the elimination of foreign exchange losses that had negatively impacted prior results.

Investor confidence increased significantly, causing NCR Nigeria’s share price to surge by 1,354% in 2025. This marked one of the most remarkable recoveries on the Nigerian Exchange that year. The appointment of a director with Saraki’s international profile indicates that the company is now concentrating on solidifying this recovery by improving governance and expanding its strategic reach.
