Organised by Access bank, the Re:Code Nigeria Hackathon is a 48-hour straight hackathon event with the aim of bringing together multiple teams of smart-thinkers to brainstorm and solve the problems of the financial sector, build solutions that would enhance and add value to the FinTech Industry.
Some of the challenges to be solved at the hackathon include:
- How financial technology can address supply chain challenges (from finished goods to retail) in the FMCG sector.
- Leveraging big-data analytics, identity management, and behavioural analysis to identify customers’ needs, providing investment advice & lending services.
- Financial Inclusion for the Agric and related sectors with a focus on improving credit scoring and financing opportunities for small and medium scale operators.

The Re:Code Nigeria hackathon will hold in Lagos from Friday, 2oth of July at 1:00 pm until noon of Sunday, 22nd of July, 2018. The hackathon would begin with introduction and briefing of platforms by the platform providers after which, teams would begin the hackathon for 48 hours non-stop.
After the coding exercise, teams would have 120 seconds to pitch to a panel of judges who will evaluate their hacks based on the level of its completion, the novelty of the idea, and how well it adheres to the theme of the hackathon. 3 winning team would then be provided with gifts worth N5 million.

The last edition of this event was won by Voice IT, a team that designed an Android application that helps temporarily or permanently disabled bank customers to carry out transactions with the aid of a natural voice interface with artificial intelligence.
