Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has reiterated the importance of grooming homegrown technological solutions and assured Nigerian inventors of the Federal Government’s support to enable them to thrive. He made this known when he paid a visit to the Genesys Tech Hub in Enugu, on Tuesday.

The hub serves as the regional hub for the South Eastern parts (Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Abia, Ebonyi) of Nigeria is one of the 8 National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) Hubs in the country. These are private sector-led innovation hubs in the country, supported by the NSIP under the Office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria for the strategic increase of entrepreneurial and technological capacity across Nigeria.
They also serve as a grooming zone for the best minds who go on to proffer innovative solutions to challenges faced in their regions and Nigeria as a whole. The hubs are present in each of the six geopolitical zones (North-West, North-East, North-Central, South-West, South East and South South), with an addition of one each in Lagos and Abuja.

Upon his visit to the hub, the Vice President was received by key stakeholders and he had the opportunity to speak with some of the innovators designing tech solutions for boosting Agric related services, Finance, Commerce and other activities of which he was impressed to see.
Technology is the future and I am excited that our young men and women are creating home-grown technology solutions to some of our challenges, said the Vice-President.
Such visitations are not the first undertaken by the Presidency’s ‘innovation ambassador’ as he has continued to visit tech communities and social empowerment initiatives, although very little help has gone out from the government to these tech communities.
